You must have seen that the latest flagship smartphones powered by Android all run on the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon processors. This is because Qualcomm has been instrumental in making processors for mobile devices where Intel and AMD have failed to do so.

For this reason, we see that every year people look forward to the announcement of the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon processors. Last year, we saw the Snapdragon 855 processor being launched which is powering 99% of the Android flagships in 2019 including the OnePlus devices, Samsung flagships and Google Pixel 4 including others.

Now, we have reports from Qualcomm that the next flagship processor from them will be announced next month. This means that we will be able to see what next can Qualcomm bring to our flagship Android devices coming next year.

For starters, we expect Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 865 processor to bring 5G support. Now, this might be via a separate 5G modem or in-built 5G support inside the processor is not known.

Not only are we expecting a 5G supported Qualcomm flagship processor, but we are also awaiting the announcement of a mid-range 5G supported processor. This means that not only will the 5G support come to flagship devices but it will also come to upper mid-range smartphones.

However, it has to be said that we are not expecting major changes from Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 similar to Apple’s A13 chip which is based on 7nm architecture. Apart from that, the Snapdragon 865 processor will definitely come with support for higher megapixel cameras, better CPU and GPU as well as video processing capabilities.

On top of that, Qualcomm is expected to announce the latest dedicated laptop chip which will power on-the-go laptops to support 4G and even 5G connectivity. Also, we will see the latest Snapdragon Wear chip which will power the next generation of Wear OS devices.
