Qualcomm is currently hosting an event in Maui, Hawaii from past few days. This event is the Snapdragon Summit from Qualcomm where the company unveils their latest chipsets. The company has flown in many bloggers to cover this event. Now, the company has already launched the Snapdragon 855 mobile platform which is the latest SoC from Qualcomm. This chip will be seen on the latest flagship smartphones next year. But the company is not stopping at just launching the 5G-supported Snapdragon 855 chip.

Instead, Qualcomm has just announced a new chip for PCs too. Yes, we all have been wondering why Windows PCs don’t come with Snapdragon SoCs inside it. That is soon going to be with this latest chipset from Qualcomm. This processor is named as the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx. Qualcomm has already announced that this chip will power the PCs next year onwards. This means that some of the Windows PCs from Dell, HP and the likes may be powered by Snapdragon 8cx.

There is some exciting news for enterprise users of Windows 10 with the Snapdragon 8cx announcement. This latest chip from Qualcomm, Snapdragon 8cx, will support Windows 10 Enterprise, the version of Microsoft’s popular operating system that is sold to businesses. The earlier chips from Qualcomm for PCs did not have this support. This is a huge benefit for Qualcomm as the chipset maker will have a huge boost from the enterprise users.

It is known that Intel earned half of its $62.8 billion in revenue from PC chips and dominates that market. Intel’s association with Windows PCs has been long and the chipset manufacturer relies heavily on their chip business as well. Now that Qualcomm has announced their chip for both regular and enterprise users, it will most likely give a stiff competition to Intel chips for PCs. It also means that we will not associate Windows PCs as WinTel machines anymore.
