Royole Officially Presented Its Flexible Smartphone Flexpai At CES 2019

Royale Flexplai Is official at CES2019

The CES 2019 has already begun: the most important technology fair in the world will open its doors this Tuesday, January 8 at the Las Vegas Convention Center (Nevada, United States). There, the big brands – and not so big – will show all the technological advances in robotics, 5G connectivity and, of course, mobile telephony.

The big brands of the smartphone market have stopped presenting their emblems during the fair. However, there is still room for surprise, as demonstrated by the Chinese company Royale presenting in society who they consider is the first flexible and foldable smart mobile phone in the world, as TechRadar points out. They have done it, precisely, in the ante-room of the CES. Even so, the presentation has left some curiosities: the presented model is quite similar to the one we met towards the end of 2018.

The major smartphone manufacturers continue to develop research on how to finally implement the long-awaited technology that allows them to adopt flexible mobile phones. Thus, we recently met the cases presented by Samsung, Xiaomi, Huawei and LG. But it has been an unknown brand that has given the note during the CES prelude: As highlighted by the official product site, FlexPlai is a combination of smartphone and tablet that guarantees the possibility of using the device both in a foldable manner and with the screen folded.

When FLexPlai is unfolded, it reaches a dimension of 7.8 inches, acquiring its AMOLED panel a ratio of 4: 3, a resolution of 1920 x 1440 pixels and a density of 308 ppi. While when it is folded in half, you get two screens of about 4 inches, but with a ratio of 16: 9 on one side and 18: 9 on the other. An interesting detail is that in this mode one of the sides is off by default to save autonomy time.

Royale says that the screen can last up to 200,000 foldings, which tells us a lot about the life cycle of the device. In addition, weighs about 320 grams, has mounted Android 9 Pie and has a dual camera with a wide-angle sensor of 16MP and 20MP lens. It has flash, optical stabilization and promises to be compatible with 5G connectivity when it is operational.

Will this be the way to go in terms of flexible mobiles? It is hard to know. At least, in this case, the demonstration has not completely satisfied the audience. Would you be willing to buy this smartphone?
