Uber Partner Revealed Flying Taxi

Bell Nexus, a flying cab made by Bell company that will take off and land vertically, just like a helicopter. The company planning to put it into the Uber service by 2020. With six flexible propellers, it seems hybrid that can cover longer distances than if it were purely electric. It has the ability to take off and land vertically, just like a helicopter.

At CES 2019, the company came up with a 1-in-1 model that suggests how the hybrid taxi will fly over the city sky. However, this model is not a functional prototype, but a concept that shows how the vehicles of the future could look.

Bell entered a partnership with Uber in 2017 when the ride-sharing company announced that it wanted to make a fleet of taxis. Scott Drennan, director of Bell’s innovation, said Bell Nexus could become reality by the middle of 2020. The taxi could carry five people and weighs 272 pounds. A hybrid system has been chosen because Bell does not want Nexus to be used just as a taxi for urban areas, but also for long-distance transport.

Uber has big plans to move the transport in the sky, but there are still many obstacles to pass. Firstly, there is still no functional flight tax prototype and no infrastructure required for such a service to be functional.
