It is a fact that the smartphone industry, as well as the electronics industry in general, is suffering from a slowdown. This is because of a lot of factors such as no new innovation in smartphones. However, one of the factors which could bring back growth in the smartphone industry is 5G network. We have seen that people tend to not upgrade their smartphones because every other smartphone looks the same. Also, all these smartphones these days come with 4G support so you can use it on any device.

However, things will change when 5G networks get rolled out because not every device will support 5G networks. At the moment, there are a handful of devices that come with 5G support. Adding to that, there is no globally launched smartphone with 5G support at the moment. Thus, smartphones that have 5G support will be seen as a potential upgrade in the near future.

We have also seen that Apple will include 5G support from its 2020 iPhones as well as other devices. This shows that every OEM believes 5G will be ready by next year. Now, UK’s carrier Three has rolled out 5G internet services in London. However, it has to be noted that this is not the regular data connection which means you can’t use in on your phone. Basically, Three UK has launched 5G broadband plans in London which means you can have a wired 5G connection in the city now.

Having said that, you can still take advantage of 5G wirelessly with the help of a WiFi router. This is based on the assumption that your smartphone supports 5G speeds. Currently, we know that OnePlus and Samsung have launched 5G variants of their flagship smartphones in the UK. So if you want to experience 5G speeds at your home, make sure to buy either of those devices.
