Xiaomi Promises The Update Of Pocophone F1 To Android Q

Xiaomi Promises The Update Of Pocophone F1 To Android Q

It seems that the updates of the Pocophone F1 are starting to arrive. A couple of weeks ago we told you that the device solved the problem with notifications. Xiaomi is now focused on solving the problem of Netflix and compatibility with some games. This week the device will update to MIUI 10, although a later OTA is expected to correct these problems. To calm users slightly Xiaomi has reported something important about the updates. Yes, the company has confirmed that it will update the Android Q Pocophone F1. This is the version that will be released in 2019 by Google.

It is quite funny that Xiaomi announced something like this when it has not even updated the device to Android 9.0 Pie. The company is one of the slowest to do so, something that changes when we talk about MIUI. Its own customization layer is updated a lot and arrives early, but the Android versions are still a thorn in the company.

It is one of the first time that we hear about Android Q and Xiaomi has been in charge of warning us. The Pocophone F1 will update, although it is likely to take longer than we would like. At the moment the device is still in Android 8.1 Oreo and does not seem to be in a hurry to update. The OTA could arrive in early 2019, something that could be extrapolated to Android Q next year. We may have to wait until 2020 to be able to try Android Q on the Pocophone F1.

This is good news, but we did not expect less from Xiaomi and knowing the delay in the updates is not something so attractive. We will see how the company behaves with the update of Pie for the Pocophone and then we will start thinking about Android Q when Google launches the first phase for developers.

At this time you may have to wait more than a year to try Android Q on your Pocophone. Its release is likely to be in August 2019, so it’s much longer than an Android fan would want.
