WhatsApp Could Erase Your Messages Permanently On November 12: Use Google Drive To Backup

WhatsApp Could Erase Your Mesaages Permanently On November 12

If you are one of those who spends all day on WhatsApp, then we have news for you: all your Whatsapp chat messages could be deleted from tomorrow onwards (November 12).

WHAT? HOW? WHY? That’s right, from the 12th of this month all the messages that you have not saved will be deleted forever. Thanks to an alliance between WhatsApp and Google, and with which you can now save your chats, photos, and videos in Google Drive, without the need to affect the space of your phone. The bad news of all this is that if you have not made a backup in the last 12 months, you were worth it because WhatsApp will delete all the files that you have sent you through the application.

In a statement, the company said that to avoid the loss of your data it is recommended that you make a backup before November 12. It also clarified that the change will only affect those who have an Android operating system, since the instant messaging company has already had an agreement with Apple, allowing its customers to store their chats in the Apple iCloud.

WhatsApp also mentioned that with this measure you will be able to transfer your conversations and files more easily in case you change your phone. On the other hand, if you plan to make a backup copy in Drive, the company recommends connecting your Smartphone to a Wi-Fi network, since the file can be very heavy and your mobile data could disappear.

While this change may sound like a marvel, some are concerned about the safety of users. As you know WhatsApp has an end-to-end encryption and Google Drive files are not. Even with that since 2015, year in which the backup copies of Drive were printed, the company has not suffered any incident. Although if you have a password like “123456” better to throw it and replace it with a more difficult one, it is better to prevent it.
