We know that there are billions of users on WhatsApp as well as Facebook. Apart from WhatsApp and Facebook, the company also owns Instagram which is yet another huge social media platform. Now, there has been a survey conducted by research analyst App Annie. The report has now been published discussing the popularity of Facebook’s Social Media apps. According to App Annie, WhatsApp is the most popular app from Facebook. This is against the popular belief as many would have believed that Facebook would be the most popular app from Facebook, the social media giant.
Now, this report is published with the Android platform in mind. This report from App Annie does not take iOS into account. But we still believe that WhatsApp users will trump Facebook users on iOS as well. It is also said that the recent data leaks on Facebook have stopped the growth of Facebook. According to App Annie’s report, WhatsApp reported a growth of 30 per cent in September last year.
However, the report also says that Facebook still showed growth amidst all the data leak and privacy reports. In terms of numbers, Facebook had a growth of 20% last year which is 10% less than WhatsApp. App Annie’s report has been named as “State of 2019”. Facebook’s another popular app, Facebook Messenger also saw a growth of 15%. According to geography, WhatsApp was the most popular app in countries like India, Indonesia, Switzerland, Spain, Turkey, Russia, Mexico, Netherlands.
In the same report, it is mentioned that India showed growth in time spent on social media apps. As per the report, Indian users grew 40% last year in terms of spending time on social media apps. These apps include WhatsApp, Facebook, Messenger and Instagram. Interestingly, it is seen that half of the time users spent on their smartphones was on social messaging applications.
