WhatsApp has been the most popular messaging app for many years. We have seen that WhatsApp has started to become the default means of communication for most people in India. Apart from that, Android users are also the dominating users of WhatsApp. Therefore, it is utmost important that the company keeps check of their Android users. We now have the information that a new security feature is being added to WhatsApp. This feature is named as Fingerprint Authentication. And it does what the name suggests which is Fingerprint recognition

We know that Android OEMs such as OnePlus and Samsung already have app lockers. This way, you can lock particular applications and open them with biometric authentication. However, this feature is not available inside the app so everyone cannot use it. Now, it seems that WhatsApp is adding one way of biometric authentication inside the app. This means of authentication is via the Fingerprint scanner. You can set your WhatsApp to unlock only with your Fingerprint. So if you have lost your device then you will be able to keep your WhatsApp safe from intruders.

This feature is currently available on the WhatsApp beta app for Android. But the feature has been disabled by default. Therefore, it seems that the feature will be added to the stable version of WhatsApp for Android soon as it is already in its testing stage. Apart from the Fingerprint Authentication, WABetaInfo also reports that WhatsApp will also support unlocking through PIN/Password. Now, this will be very handy for users who do not have a fingerprint scanner. This way, you do not need to use a fingerprint scanner and still protect the WhatsApp app from trespassers. The features are expected to come to WhatsApp for Android soon so stay tuned and keep an eye out for the update to arrive
