Great news! The countdown for the launch of the new Xiaomi Redmi 4 has begun according to its mission control. The Mega Chinese company itself via its official Weibo page has confirmed the launch of its hopefully next gen, next tech budget -but still innovation laden- smartphones. Considering Xiaomi’s antecedents, it is not surprising that the phone is as eagerly awaited as a case of 20-year aged scotch.

Xiaomi itself has chosen to mercilessly tease and tantalize us with teaser images of the device. The images show off curved edges like a Katana and a metal unibody design for durability and style. The screen is a “tiny” 5 inches with a surprisingly high resolution of 1920 x 1080 and a 2.5D glass screen. Grunt power is derived via an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SOC with 3GB of system RAM and onboard 32GB of internal storage to store and record your life and times. Not to worry, the storage can be boosted even further by an SD card to 128GB. The primary camera is reported to be a 13MP shooter with dual LED flash and a 5MP selfie-maker. Battery juice is likely to be a 4100mAh ogre capable of some hours of heavy and groovy use. And oh yes, a finger-print sensor adorns the back. The device will be available in Gray, Gold, and Silver.

And in case you are particularly broke after spending a wild month at the Taj Mahal casino, the phone will come at an even lower cost but still heavy speced version just for you. Known as the Redmi 4A, it will sport 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage -expandable via SD card-, a 5-inch full HD screen and roughly the same camera as its pumped-up older sibling. Processing power comes courtesy of a Snapdragon 425 SOC, with battery capacity a probable 3,030 mAh. The OS on both devices will be the Android Marshmallow with some Xiaomi customization slapped on top like a tight pair of jeans.

Price? A possible $192 for the Redmi 4 and lower still for its brah, but still very competitive considering its delightful offerings. Which should you get? Well, how do you like to spoil yourself?
