We have seen that if there is one company that does not feel tired of trying out new things, it is none other than Xiaomi. As we have seen in the previous years, Xiaomi has been the first to launch different variations of a notch such as the hole-punch display, flip camera layout as well as its in-display cameras are also being worked upon. Xiaomi also revealed that it is developing a foldable smartphone but we have not seen the device launched as yet. Now, a new report has emerged out of the Xiaomi camp which is not about a new approach but an interesting one.
Over the years, we have seen that smartphone manufacturers have played the safer role of having Qualcomm Snapdragon chipsets inside their devices rather than going for other options. But it is seen that MediaTek has made a comeback from the last few years. Because not only is the company’s chipset seen more in this time period, we are seeing news that it will be seen on more devices too. As per the report we are talking about, Xiaomi is working on a smartphone that will be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ SoC.
It is worth noting that the Dimensity 1000+ is close to the Snapdragon 730G from Qualcomm as per MediaTek’s claims. Apart from that, Xiaomi is also working on having a 144Hz refresh rate panel for its smartphone which will obviously have an LCD display since 120Hz is the maximum for an OLED panel thus far. Another reason why Dimensity 1000+ from MediaTek is important is due to the 5G support that the chip provides. This will ensure that even the mid-range smartphones powered by this chip get the latest network support which will ensure future-proofing as and when the 5G networks are available widely.
