WhatsApp has been here for more than a decade in the social messaging sector. And it is obvious that the application is extremely popular among people of all ages and demographics. However, we also know that WhatsApp tends to add features regularly to its platform. Some of these features come into action and some vanish just like that. For this reason, WhatsApp always adds new features to its Beta version. This is done to see the public reaction for the feature as well as it’s working.
Once the feature is accepted and working fine for beta testers, it is then added to the main version. This also works for WhatsApp as a way of getting feedback from users. Now, one controversial feature is being added t0 WhatsApp if report from WABetaInfo is to be believed.
This feature must be familiar to the users of Snapchat which is the ability to disable taking screenshots for chats. Yes, WhatsApp is looking to disable user’s ability to take screenshots of their chats as part of ‘authentication’ feature. Also, this is related to the feature that is already being added to WhatsApp which is ability to lock WhatsApp with fingerprint.
Now, the added functionality with fingerprint lock is that it will also effectively block a user from taking screenshots of the chats. Apart from adding Fingerprint authentication, WhatsApp is also working on improving its Doodles. For this, WhatsApp is adding search option and will categorize doodles into ‘Stickers’ and ‘Emoji’.
As expected, WhatsApp’s screenshot blocking feature for additional security and privacy is already being scrutinized. However, we will have to wait and see if the feature is added by the company. Because WhatsApp would not risk any feature that is not liked by its users. It is also said that this feature, however, is already available to some of the closed beta testers of WhatsApp.
