One thing that you must have seen is that the different companies around the world such as Amazon, Facebook, Google, Apple and others have been secretly recording your voices. Now, this includes every company that has a Voice Assistant-enabled speaker in their lineup since they say that the recording is used for better speech recognition. But this is obviously a privacy concern since the voice recordings might have some private information which will get recorded too.

However, Facebook has come up with a new strategy to let users record their speech and give it to the company without problems. For this, Facebook has announced that it will now pay those who give voice recordings to the company. This is part of a new Facebook program named “Pronunciations” which is part of the Viewpoints market research app. There is a qualification to join this program and if a user qualifies, they will be able to record the phrase “Hey Portal” and speak any of your friend’s name from the friend list.

For those who are unaware, Portal is a product from Facebook which is similar to Google’s Nest Mini that has a display and voice recognition system for different instructions. The rewards from Facebook for your voice recordings are not that great, however, For example, you get 200 points for each of your recordings and you can cash out the reward points when they reach 1000. These 1000 points translate to a $5 reward which will be transferred via PayPal to the users.

Facebook’s program will be available to users in the US who are above the age of 18 and this will be available for those who have more than 75 Facebook friends. Now, we don’t know why these many friends are needed but that is what Facebook’s requirements say. You will have to download the Viewpoints app for this program and will see the program pop up without an update to the app.
