Build a Media center PC from scratch using XBMC: XBMC is a free and open source media player application developed by the XBMC Foundation. It is available for multiple operating systems and hardware platforms.It is a popular alternative to Windows Media Center for HTPC (Home Theater PC).The software was originally created as a media center application named “Xbox Media Center” for the original Xbox game console. But now it is available for all platforms.

Simply download the setup file of your correspondent operating system here “Download XBMC.” The installation procedure is very simple as usual like other programs. For Ubuntu install from the command line “apt-get install xbmc”.For Mac drag and drop XBMC app on applications folder. For windows open the exe file and install it. The current version is Frodo.

Customization of XBMC:
XBMC comes with the beautiful default theme. You can add more themes by clicking on System->Add-ons->Get add-ons->Skins. You can change weather code, playback settings, adding videos to the xbmc in System option.
