UMi Max 4G Phablet Review

UMi Max 4G Phablet is one of the latest releases from the UMi, a brand known for the quality of the products. This time also, the company implemented a simple but elegant design that looks similar to the iPhone models especially on the back. Except for the camera and flash, the backside is much similar to an iPhone even including two lines one on the upper side and another one on the bottom. It’s clean and neat Gorilla glass built display is very attractive at the first look itself.

It might be a battery centric device as the company recently released a video where the device’s battery is compared with the iPhone 6s. If they true the video, the battery of the Max is just amazing when compared to the 6s which is one of the dominators. To find out more about the device, we’ve decided to write a detailed review of the UMi Max. We will be listing the features, specs, pros and cons alongside our verdict. So, let’s have a look into the UMi Max 4G Phablet Review.

UMi Max Design

As mentioned before, the device is an elegantly built product with a back cover comparatively similar to an iPhone. In the front portion, there is nothing much to focus than a flat Gorilla display and the red round home button which will be visible while operating the smartphone. With an improved assembly process, the Metal build looks stunning where the parts are joined naturally without any fluctuations. Thanks to UMi for such a stunning design in UMi Max 4G Phablet.

The 4th Generation Micro-Array Fingerprint sensor is placed on the backside underneath the camera and flash. The sensor performs much better and has very accurate recognition. Similar to the iPhone, the bottom of the smartphone consists of some holes and the USB Type-C with enhanced transfer rates. So, the cutting edge design is one of the best things we’ve noticed in UMi Max.

UMi Max – Display

The UMi Max features a Gorilla glass display as we’ve already seen in many of their smartphones. The 5.5-inch 1080p display is coming with the SHARP technology which is well known for the vivid and intense color output. With the support of the technology, it outputs excellent visuals on the screen boosted by the hardware inside. There is a sunlight protection layer on the screen to not affect the viewability of the screen on outdoor. It is a nice feature to have on a UMi product.

As mentioned before, the screen is completely protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass 3 with 2.5D arc. So that it will be very smooth to operate on the surface as well as it could prevent sticky particles like dust and sweat. We really liked the display section of the device because of the simple and vivid design where just a red round (The home button) is to notice.

UMi Max – Camera

While talking about the camera, the UMi Max coming with the Panasonic 13.0 MP high-speed camera to effectively capture all your favorite moments. The camera comprised of many latest technologies to deliver superior performance while taking photos and videos. As per the company, it could capture high-quality photos while travelling with the help of the speed-camera. But in our tests, we’ve found that the camera is a little laggy in performance. Especially, the time took for processing a shot is high when compared to other previous models. Even though, it is still satisfactory.

On the front, there is a 5.0 MP camera with nothing special to notice. It performed much better in taking selfies even in small movements. But, it is not an high-speed camera that put some shakes in our moving selfies. Anyhow, in terms of the camera, the UMi Max is an average product.

UMi Max – Performance and Connectivity

The UMi Max is running on the MediaTek Helio P10 Octa-core chipset with 1.8GHz clocking speed. In our tests, the processor is working perfect and has no problems like heating as we’ve seen in some Xiaomi products. The Cortex A53 CPU and Mali-T860 GPU makes it a gamer friendly smartphone. It runs the games like Asphalt 8 without any lags even on maximum graphic settings. 3GB LDDR3 RAM is there to support multi-tasking performance. The built-in 16GB ROM could be expanded up to 256GB as per the user’s needs.

The device is fueled by a 4000mAh high capacity battery which is enough to run the device all long a day. With the Android 6.0, it is common to drain the battery quicker. But the UMi device managed to hold the battery charge as long as possible. When compared to the iPhone 6s with 5 hours of continuous usage on extreme conditions like Gaming, Video Streaming, Browsing,  Video Playback, etc. we’ve got these results which are satisfactory.

In the connectivity section, there is all of them including 4G, Wifi, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, etc. in addition to the sensors including G-sensor, Proximity sensor, Ambient light sensor. The Max supports hybrid sim cards with Dual SIM dual standby or dual Micro SIM cards to ensure all time connectivity on the smartphone.

Verdict

UMi Max 4G Phablet is a good device with mid-range specifications for an affordable price of $159.89. It is not common to have such good specs including a Panasonic camera, 3GB RAM and a fingerprint sensor at such price range. If you would like to use it for gaming purposes, the 4000mAh battery will be enough to run the full HD display all long a day. Talking about the protection, the device is built with hard materials including the Corning Gorilla Glass on the front.

All in all, it is a good deal to avail it for a price of $159.89. If you would like to buy the UMi Max, you could do that from the following link.
