The Hybrid sim card slots are slowly becoming a trend and the companies accepting it as a good way to insert the sim and memory cards. Many companies are producing their devices with a non-removable battery. So, if the sim and memory also come outside of the device, there is no need to open the back cover. So, it is a bit easier to produce iPhone structured device with no removable parts.
Some of this kind of hybrid slots have some limitations like minimum SD card storage. Users need to insert the minimum amount of storage to the slot to read them. Another con is that it can only hold a single sim while having a memory card inserted. If you want two sim cards at the same time, there is no way to do so. But, these days, two sim cards is not a big matter, and the users could easily manage with a single sim card itself. Or the huge storage devices already coming with 128GB or 256GB internal storage itself. So, it is no more a problem.

In hybrid sim , the sim2 supports on 3g or 2g call not 4g lte. In redmi note 4 or 5 it is declared in the official web site. Is it true for all hybrid sim tray?

I cannot, therefore, use a sim for a call contract with one service provider, another sim for data with another service provider AND have an SD memory card for data/images/video/documents.

It’s crazy this situation, the only Snapdragon 820 CPU Cat 11 & 12 phone being manufactured at the moment with three physically different slots is the LG 5 phone, no other phone can you use three. But I want an 821 CPU, this is Cat 11 & 12, and uses 10% less power than the 820, phone with the same capability it isn’t possible at the moment. All use the 820, and 821 CPU phones use this hybrid. Bearing in mind my current phone has three physically separate sim slots and a separate microSD slot. This is total crap at its best. Yes, you can take the chip off your sim card, and glue it in the right position on your SIM card as a workaround. But it’s not for the faint hearted. Why don’t they just make the draw a mm thicker, and give people the ability to use all three at the same time.

It is simply a slot where you could insert two sim cards or a sim card + a memory card at the same time. There is no need to remove the back cover or battery to install it. There are many hybrid sim slot hacks available to make it even more useful. Will post them shortly.

Recently I purchased a Infocus mobile M370i which has the same problem. None of the customers know about it. Two slots are given. Both slots can be used for 2 sim card and one sim card with one SD card. It is also very difficult to place the micro sim card as the slot is very fragile which can break any time. Many customers who went for this mobile Infocus M370i are confused as they can either use one sim card or one SD card only.

There are too many smartphones with Hybrid sim technology. But, it is difficult to say the exact number.
The main advantage of hybrid SIM card slot is that it saves space on smartphones for the manufacturers, which can help them to make the phone much slimmer and also reduce some of the circuitry involved. There is virtually no advantage of Hybrid SIM card slot to the users as it only limits the features as discussed below.
The main disadvantage of hybrid SIM slot is that it limits your phone functionality i.e. you can either use your smartphone as a dual SIM phone or you can expand the storage through microSD card. You can cannot use both these features simultaneously which is a major drawback of hybrid SIM slot.
Here I would like to say that I am not a fan of Hybrid SIM card slot as it restricts something on your phone. Also you cannot do anything about it if it is present in the phone that you are going to buy. Here you have to be intelligent and think about your requirements and use the Hybrid SIM slot as per your needs i.e. you have to make a decision that whether you need dual SIM functionality or want extra storage space on your phone.
There is actually a single SIM mobile and here the Sales man making great cheat with customer as he don’t notice to customer. I think no customer who is looking dual SIM mobile, will buy it if there is option to buy a mobile having 3 slots (2 for SIM & 1 for SD card).
