Android is a very user-friendly operating system for smartphones. When it comes to texting or calling while driving it is not advisable. Android is working a way to mute notifications while driving.
Apple already solved the problem by putting your phone on “Do not Disturb” while driving in the iOS 11. To disable or pause the DND, you need to tap on “I’m not Driving” option on your iOS device. This option is a real lifesaver for frequent drivers. This will reduce the risk of accidents by disabling the phone notifications.
Now coming to Android, you will find a similar option in Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL. If your smartphone neither iOS device nor Pixel 2 to get this option, don’t worry. You can get the similar feature by using this new Android app. This app automatically puts your Android device into Do not Disturb mode while driving.
Meet “Driving Detective”, this app puts your Android smartphone into Do Not Disturb while driving. This app based on the same technology used for Pixel 2 “Do not Disturb While Driving” option. It works with almost any Android device running Android 4.1 or up.
The only downside of the app is, it doesn’t know you driving or using public transport. While in movement with a certain speed the app automatically starts Do not Disturb. However, with a single tap, you can disable the option if you are using public transport.
The user interface of the Driving Detective is pretty easy to understand. The app lets you customize the notification settings, you can completely block the notifications or let through priority alerts. You can also set the app functionality to enable on weekends or weekdays based on your preferences. The app works individually and does not interfere with Car Displays.
