MalwareFox is a heuristic technology based anti-malware. It is getting popularity because of its low computer resource usage and effectiveness towards catching malware. It is equally good for users with low system configuration and for users with high-end configuration. It offers protection from ransomware, rootkits, spyware, Trojans, keyloggers, and from zero-day malware. MalwareFox scan is the fastest even on sluggish PCs.
We can see a significant rise in computer’s users who spend lots of time on the internet. This gives online scammers and hackers an opportunity to generate a different kind of threats to fool users. Recently, worldwide ransomware attacks are the example. In such era where every day a new computer threat is being generated, we can’t afford to leave our computer security on old age antiviruses.
Here in this article, I will review MalwareFox anti-malware capable to provide the security that we need.
Setting up MalwareFox
MalwareFox installation is super easy. The installation setup file is just 15 MB that should not take more than 2 minutes to download on your computer. It doesn’t take more than 5 minutes to completely set up. I am using a 512 Kbps connection and it takes less than 2 minutes to download. On my core i3 processor laptop it just takes 2 minutes to install.
You can download and install the free anti-malware by following the simple instructions. Even new computer users can easily install it. The whole installation setup consists of 5 steps. In which, you need to select the preferred language, choose the installation location, and select options for creating desktop icon & turning real-time protection on. Then MalwareFox will install in a flash and after that, it updates the program and loads recent signatures from the server.
User Interface
A good user interface tells the tale that how much time developers have dedicated to making the program simple and easy to navigate. MalwareFox passed with a good score in this test. Its interface is super easy yet elegant. The whole program looks appealing with black and white theme. From the home screen, users can easily navigate through different options.
The upper right side of the home screen contains buttons to settings, quarantine, license, and reports. The left corner of the screen has a home button to quickly come back on home screen. There is a big green button to start the complete scan right away. The midsection of the interface contains information about the system status, license, last scan, and last update check. You can also check the status of Real-Time Protection on the home screen.
There is an area where you can drag and drop files or folders to perform a deep scan. All these things on home screen still the interface doesn’t look cluttered.
Features
MalwareFox doesn’t offer fancy features. Most antimalware protection programs have different tools and features to attract users to purchase the subscription. This is like investing money in the items we are not going to use. Different features make a program heavy and not to be said, costlier. I say it a positive point, which many people, would take it as negative. The ransomware removal tool is an excellent feature of MalwareFox.
MalwareFox contains features that are extremely important. It has real-time protection, manual scan, full scan, and scheduled scan. The real-time protection blocks the threats from execution even before they start damaging your computer, whereas other features can be used to increase the protection against malware.
Protection
Protection wise MalwareFox also does a good job. MalwareFox is capable to detect and delete ransomware, browser hijackers, keyloggers, rootkits, spyware, Trojans, and zero-day malware. It works on Pro-Active technology to identify and remove the threats.
Most of the anti-malware protection suite follows the signature method to detect the threats. If the malware signature is not in the database the threat will be undetected and it will damage your important data. MalwareFox also works on the signature to identify the threats but it goes one step further to detect the culprits. It uploads the possible threat to the cloud to observe its behavior and then it take action accordingly. This method of detection is called heuristic technology.
Performance
I have been using MalwareFox for 5 months now and it has cleaned lots of browser hijackers, pop-ups, and Trojans. I completely rely on its protection. If we talk about the performance of finding and removing the threats then it just takes 14 minutes to do a full scan of my almost full 500GB hard drive.
The compatibility type I haven’t faced any issue as of now. It works effectively even with other antivirus protections suites. I am using it with Avast anti-virus and it works independently without interfering.
Cost
Now comes the cost factor, you must be thinking with all these awesome protection features MalwareFox will charge a hefty amount for the subscription. The subscription of MalwareFox is available on the 1-year basis and you can get it for 1 PC in just $22.45.
1-year subscription cost for 2 PC is $24.95 and for 3 PC is $29.95. If it is not cheapest, then it’s absolutely reasonable cost of getting a protection of your valuable data. There are attractive plans if you want to get the subscription for more than 3 PCs. You can check the MalwareFox website to know more.
Final Verdict
Plus points of MalwareFox are, lightweight on system resources, detection and removal strategy, its performance, simple user interface, and the low subscription charges. The negative point what I find with the product is lack of tools such as password manager and encryption for important data. However, if added these tools it may make the program heavy and then it can become a negative point also. So, if MalwareFox is able to add these tools without making the program bulky then absolutely it will be a great addition. However, anti-malware is supposed to find and remove malware from the computer, in which MalwareFox is an expert. I have seen several anti-malware embedding spyware, keyloggers with their program, but MalwareFox is a neat security suite without any other bundled products.
