In the past 10 years, Reddit has truly become the front page of the internet. There are a large number of people who look forward to reading Reddit daily, they use different ways some might be using the Mobile phone, while some use their PC. Mobile phones have quite a great list of applications which helps the users to make productive use of their device.
On PC there is a lot of distraction and this makes it difficult for people to work on a PC. Other than distraction even using Reddit is a huge task due to lacking features such as customizability. Today we are going to talk about 5 different Chrome Extensions which are going to enhance the workflow of the Reddit users.
1. Reddit Companion
Reddit Companion website enables you to share any particular web page directly onto Reddit without saving the screenshot and copying the URL of the website. Installing the extension in chrome is quite easy, and involves a couple of steps. The toolbar will be displayed on the top of the browser. Once done, you will simply be required to add a title for the Reddit post and hit the submit button.
Once done you will be headed to the Reddit submit page, from where you can add further posts to the subreddits. The plugin also keeps a track of the shared webpage, and directly upvote/downvote the pages you have shared. The plugin will also show us notifications which can be enabled from the settings page of the Extension. One major thing about the extension to note is that we are not having any update on the extension from last 3 years which means any bug or issue is not going to be supported.
2. Shine for Reddit
This is a client application for Reddit enabling this plugin there is a different set of CSS which works over the website. With Shine, the website looks amazing, and have a different tone of the design. More or less we can make out the material design theme loaded on to the PC. There are two different views in which you can view the pages, one is Grid View while the other is ListView.
We even get a number of quick toggles enabled for our MultiReddit sidebar which is an actual sidebar that even has a FAB button integrated. Do note that it is not completely free and it has many features which will be activated once you have donated a certain amount to the developers.
Unfortunately, Shine for Reddit is removed from Google Web Store and now it is available only for Mozilla Firefox. You can download the add-on here.
3. AlienTube
If you are a frequent user of YouTube, then this is a great plugin for you. This plugin is targeted to the users who want to get some information which is trending about any particular video on Reddit. Comments on YouTube are pretty useless, and hence in order to have a good focus on any topic, this plugin is the best.
With this, you will have the option to get the comments fetched from Reddit for the particular video. There is a limitation on the same, that it will only be fetched and showed if there are enough shares of a particular video, if there is nothing shared about that video then you will get the original YouTube comments only.
4. Reddit Mini
If you are a fan of Android’s notification panel, then you will like Reddit Mini a lot. This is the same concept but just for Reddit. Once installed you will be able to use Reddit on top of any website. This is one of the best organized mini formats of Reddit.
The Reddit Mini icon is located on the top of the browser besides the address bar, once you click on the same, a panel will pop out from where you can easily add the names of the subreddits and it will be loaded, with the pop-out panel you can even read and make comments. There are even images that will be expanded to the original versions when opened. If there is any video post then the link will open in another tab.
5. Reddit Enhancement Suite
This counts to be the best collection of modules for any website. This plugin comes with a host of functionality which will improve your user experience on the website. There are tons of functionality hence it cannot be covered in a small section of the top lists.
The best of modules integrated into the suite is as follow:
- Block NSFW Content: This feature is really great, but sometimes it misses on some, for a workaround you must use the inbuilt Reddit functionality to filter the content based on its type.
- View Images/Videos right on the front page: This will enable you to view images/videos right on the front page, this setting can be altered right from the Productivity panel.
- Filter out subreddits: This will enable you to view the filtered subreddits on the front page itself, hence you will not have to open multiple tabs for each subreddits.
- Use multiple accounts: This is even easy for you to have more than one account for you, it is quite simple to add more accounts which you can do under the My Account section of Settings Console.
- Tag users: This will enable you to tag users easily, and the tag will notify them about their interaction in a particular comment.
- Unlimited scroll: Pagination on Reddit is quite annoying, hence with this feature you will be able to use Reddit without reloading every other page.

6. Reddit Comments Collapser
Reddit Comments Collapser is a time-saving solution for reading long threaded comments. If you are reading comments in a long threaded post, then you might lose somewhere and difficult to follow the last reading comment. This is a common problem arise while reading long threaded comments. Usually, you find + and – symbols provided by Reddit to expand and collapse comments. But Reddit Comments Collapser extension takes one more step to simplify the thread confusion. This extension creates colored thread lines between the starting and ending thread. This will help you to check where you started by checking the colored line.
