Moto E5 Plus vs Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro Comparison

Moto E5 Plus vs Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro Comparison

Motorola recently launched the latest iteration of its Moto E series handset the Moto E5 Plus and the Moto E5. Out of the two, the Moto E5 Plus competes with the Redmi Note 5 pro as per the pricing. Xiaomi released the Redmi Note 5 Pro earlier this year which makes it kind of old, but still popular with new buyers. Today majorly we will be comparing the two head to head so we can find out which one is the better among the two.

Design & Build

Moto E5 Plus & the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro, both come with an attractive design which is true to their company design language. On the front, both the devices get the same trendy 18:9 ratio display which gives both the phones a tall boy design language. At the back both the phones have a fingerprint scanner right in the middle, Xiaomi has the branding at the bottom, while Motorola integrated the branding with the fingerprint scanner itself which is one of the most demanded things by Moto – fans.

Talking about the camera, Xiaomi has done the camera to the left of the phone, with a vertical placement for the dual camera unit. On Moto we have a circular camera unit which integrates a single lens camera, a single LED light, and a Laser Focusing system.

Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 5 Pro is made up with a unibody metal design whereas the Moto E5 Plus comes with a plastic build. This makes build quality of the Motorola’s unit suffer by a large number when compared with the Redmi Note 5 Pro. Though the phone comes with plastic built, still the Moto E5 Plus gets a solid build and feels premium in hand. In hand feel of the Redmi Note 5 Pro is also great, and it can easily last a good time in one’s hand.

Display

Moto E5 Plus features a 6 – inch display while the Redmi Note 5 Pro features a 5.99 – inch display this makes both the display almost identical. Both the devices have a similar type of Display i.e. an IPS LCD Display. The panel on the E5 Plus is an HD+ one which maxes the resolution at 720 x 1440p, while the Redmi Note 5 Pro maxes out at 1080 x 2160p which makes its panel an FHD+ resolution one.

Both the devices come with a number of tweaks for the display to make it comfortable for you to use your device without straining your eyes for a long time. Stock setting on the Moto E5 Plus for the display makes the display unit feel of like an old device with flushed out colors and less contrast. But these can be fixed easily with the help of in – software tweaks. There is no such issue present with the Redmi Note 5 Pro and the display is a vibrant and well-saturated one directly from the company itself.

Performance

Both the devices use a different range of processors. Moto E5+ gets a Snapdragon 430 CPU which is from 400 – series lineup while the Redmi Note 5 Pro gets a Snapdragon 646 CPU which is from 600 – series lineup. This makes the devices vary in performance a bit, Moto bundles the phone with close to stock UI which further boosts the performance of the hardware, while Xiaomi gets MUI on top of Android, and this does affect the overall performance of the phone.

During normal day to day task both the phones gives decent performance any multitasking on both the phones becomes a breeze. The main issue comes with the Gaming, where the Redmi Note 5 Pro gives decent performance with Medium graphics settings, on Moto E5 Plus we get an average performance on Medium Graphics settings, although the game will be playable but during intense graphics demand the phone will tend to lag and stutter a bit.

Camera

On the rear both the devices have kind of different setups like the Moto E5 Plus gets a single 12MP camera, the Redmi Note 5 Pro gets a dual camera setup with the primary sensor being a 12MP unit assisted by a 5MP secondary camera.

The extra sensor gives the phone an edge with the portrait mode feature. The images from both the images are well saturated and come with a good amount of details and sharpness. There is no issue with contrast and color tones in any of the two phones.

The front camera on both the phones is again different with Moto E5+ offering just a 5MP unit Redmi Note 5 Pro gets a 20 MP sensor. This again makes the Redmi Note 5 pro stand out in the front camera department.

Pricing

Moto E5 Plus comes at a price tag of 11,999 while the Redmi Note 5 Pro comes at a price tag of 16,999 although there is a cheaper variant at 13,999 INR. Both the two phones are having a good range of color options. Moto E5 Plus is available radially without any flash sales, while for the Redmi Note 5 Pro we have to wait for the flash sales to commence.
