Huawei Honor 8C Review

Huawei Honor 8C Review

Huawei in the year 2018 have launched many different handsets, and the key thing in all these handsets have been the uniqueness that each one carried. All the handsets have the unique key with either the looks, either the performance factor, either the specifications or any other thing.

But this does make sure that you are having a good amount of performance bump and you are getting the thing that you require. Today’s device is the Huawei Honor 8C, and today we are going to evaluate the product based on the Design Language, Performance, Camera, and Battery of the device. With this, we will have a look on to the product if it is capable to do most of the daily tasks or not.

Design & Build

In terms of design, the Huawei Honor 8C is a hit or miss for different peoples. This particular device comes with a notch to the front and a dual camera setup to the back. Although the dual camera setup on the back looks totally to one’s taste, hence you might like the two lenses or you might dislike the same.

On the front, we have a large bezel to the bottom of the display which is one of the most important parts of any phone equipped with an LCD display.

Talking about the placements we have the front sensors and camera equipped on the notch of the phone, Honor branding on the bottom of the phone in the bezel. The dual cameras, flash unit, and AI branding on the top left the corner of the device.

Coming to the fingerprint scanner unit we have it to the center of the phone at the back. The whole phone is made up of an aluminum shell and hence the phone is durable and at the same time flexible enough that it doesn’t damage the display for most of the part on the drops.

Display

It’s a notched display as you got to know in the Design section of the mobile phone, a particular display unit is an HD+ unit which is sized at 6.26 inches. Due to the notch and minimal bezels, we have the screen to body ratio of the phone to be 81.9%. The resolution of the phone is 720 x 1520 pixels and comes with an aspect ratio of 19:9.

All this translates the phone to be having a pixel density of slightly over 250 PPI at 269 PPI and in 2018 these numbers are quite old, and for sure the display on this unit is not exactly top of the line one.

In real-world situations too the IPS LCD display is not the best one with color reproductions. When it comes to the contrast and saturation the display is not able to display the true tone colors due to the same, as they are always not in the right place.

Overall the display is sharp, but as you move too close to the same, then you can easily see the pixels which are a clear downside of the phone. This device is not for people who are looking forward to having a good quality panel to display images and view different movies.

Performance

This particular device comes with the all new Snapdragon 632 chipset which is found in selected devices only hence there are no proper reviews onto the chipset. This particular chipset is made upon 14nm platform making it one of the most power efficient chip in the market.

Assisting the chipset is the Adreno 506 GPU which is one of the best in terms of rolling out graphics in the wild.  Assisting the whole setup is 4Gigs of RAM which is sufficient for most of the gaming and multitasking activities. The phone comes loaded with Android 8.1 Oreo which is really a great optimized operating system for games, and other different activities.

In the real world you are going to see a couple of hiccup on to the phone, but for most of the part that is on to the custom OS of the phone which is not exactly optimized to do all the tasks currently, and with the next release we expect to see these problems getting solved.

For most of the part, we can say that the multitasking process is quite easy and there is no problem there in the day to day working of the mobile phone. When you are gaming on the mobile phone, it is also neither a problem as for most of the part the GPU is running free because of the low amount of pixels to be pushed on to the display as the display is just a 720p + resolution display.

Camera’

The all-new Honor 8C comes with a 13MP primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture while the secondary depth sensor is a 2MP one with f/2.4 aperture. Talking about the 8MP selfies camera to the front of the device it carries an aperture value of f/2.0.

Both the front and rear unit of the camera is capable of capturing FHD videos, although you will not be able to enjoy all the pixels as the device comes with really low amount of pixels on the display, both the front and the rear comes with a flash unit, but on the rear we have a dual tone one, while on the front it is assisted via the display.

In the real world, we can say that the images are not up to the mark as it must have been. But for most of the part, you can actually adjust to the colors and saturation that we are getting from the phone’s sensors.

Neither the front unit, nor the rear unit is capable of producing some great images, and the sole reason for the device being pretty low on the camera performance is about the sensors and software optimization that is not that great on to the phone. In the daytime, the images have good details, but as we go tonight photography, the scene changes and there is a lot of blurriness in the images.

Battery

Honor 8C is offered with a 4000 mAh battery which is enough to keep the phone running for a whole day. As the phone is not having an FHD Display hence the display is going to eat much less power, and this is the key reason of the phone having more than 2 days of battery life when the phone is used properly for tasks such as calling, social media, and absolutely no gaming.

The display is going to help in the game here also, and hence even while gaming the phone gives a battery life of over 6 hours which is more than expected.

Verdict

Honor 8C phone comes with most of the things either a hit or a miss. The design and build of the phone is quite good and hence is a hit, but coming to the display it is a huge miss. When we talk about the performance it is a hit, but the camera is a huge miss, and same is for the battery it is a hit for most of the part.

Hence if you are looking for a phone with the hit parts then this one is for you and get one soon as it gets available in the mass market. What do you think about the Huawei Honor 8C? do let us know your thoughts in the comment section below.
