Cops in Britain are Building an AI Which Flags People Who are Likely to Commit a Crime

It is interesting to see how much Artificial Intelligence has advanced in our daily lives. This piece of news is what we call the future of policing. It is now found out that UK Cops are developing a new AI which will help them in identifying criminals. However, this AI is much more advanced than you would think. Because of the fact that this does not catch the criminal after the crime.

Rather, this AI flags the person who is likely to commit a crime or become a victim in the near future. This way, Cops in the UK will find out about the likelihood of a crime and its criminal and be aware of it. Now, this crime detection also involves crimes which are committed with gun or knife, as well as modern slavery.

Therefore, no criminal goes undetected from the hands of this AI. UK Police is hoping that this will help in counseling the criminals who are likely to commit the crime. In this way, the crime can be avoided or the criminal can be caught by social services easily.

This system has been named National Data Analytics Solution and it extracts data from local and national police databases. Thus, it keeps track of all the past records about a person. Once the data about a person is recorded, he will be given a “risk score” which reveals the likeliness of him/her committing a crime in the near future.

This risk score is given on the basis of not 1 or 2 but 1400 parameters which includes the past crimes done by them.

Also, this AI system takes into account the number of people involved in their group who have committed crimes in the past. This system is currently being tested by the West Midlands Police Department in the UK till March 2019. On successful completion of this test, the plan is to set up this system in all the police departments of UK.
