Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro Review

Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro Review

Xiaomi has been doing quite a good job when it comes to products in the budget segment. All the devices especially the Xiaomi Redmi Note series and the Xiaomi Redmi Series, both of them have been grossing quite well in the market.

All the devices under the range have been an all-rounder, and hence this made the Redmi Note series quite popular in the market and most of them trust this series for the outright performance of the chipsets and value for money products in durability too.

Today we are going to talk about the latest in the market in the Redmi Note series from Xiaomi the all-new Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro, and will evaluate if this product is in the same league of devices from the brand under the same tag, and if it will be capable to suffice your daily need for the next couple of months.

Design & Build

This year the design of the Note series devices have got even better with the cues from the premium devices and the rear still the same which happens to be a design from almost all the different devices in the same range.

Talking about the design the Redmi Note 6 Pro comes with a dual camera sensor at the back which is one with a dual tone flash in between. This unit is placed on the left-hand corner on top of the device. Coming to the front we have the notch on the front where the dual camera setup is there along with the sensors and earpiece. At the bottom, we do have a bottom bezel which takes care of the LCD connectors.

Overall the phone is made up of the aluminum body shell and this makes it possible for the phone to feel premium and slim in the hands. Even this gives durability to the phone. Talking about the front glass durability it is made with the help of Corning Gorilla Glass, although the version is not specified by the company.

Talking about the overall fit and finish of the phone it is up to the mark and does makes the phone to feel great in hand. Coming to the overall in hand feel the phone does feel good but at the same time almost the same as it used to do on the first iteration of the Redmi Note – series.

Display

Xiaomi loads the phone with a 6.23-inch display which is an IPS LCD one and happens to project all the 16 million + colors accurately. The panel comes with an aspect ratio of 19:9 and happens to have a resolution of 1080 x 2280 pixels and covers over 81.1% of the front of the phone and this makes this phone into the league of phones which are mostly covered by the display. Covering the display is the Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3 which makes the display of the phone super durable.

In the real world, the display of the phone is quite great and there are no issues with the phone getting the best in class images to preview. Do note that the image displayed on the phone comes to be great due to great colors and a good amount of saturation.

Coming to the images in the daylight they are also good as the screen is less reflective and there are no issues with the viewing at different angles due to the sunlight. Coming to the night time the images are again crisp and clear and hence the eyes also don’t hurt much.

Performance

Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro comes with the latest Snapdragon 636 Processor which is no improvement from the Redmi Note 5 Pro and hence is a downside of this update. Handling the GPU duty is the same Adreno 509 GPU and the phone owns the same configuration of 4 and 6 Gigs of RAM along with 64 GB of Internal Storage, there is no option for getting an 8 GB and 128GB storage option even for the persons who want one after investing the amount. Snapdragon 636 comes with the Kryo 260 Cores which are efficient enough to let you take the enjoyment of using the phone with ease.

The phone does perform well in the real world usage, and there are no issues with the phone when you are using the phone for normal tasks. You will barely notice any lags or any stuttering on the phone even when you are using the phone with extensive multitasking.

It is Gaming performance of the phone which also excels and also is a downside, as most of the games run fine even on the highest settings but what turns it down is the performance of games such as PUBG and Asphalt 8 in the topmost settings and the amount of frame drops it has on offer while doing the same.

Camera

Quad camera setup is what you will find here in this phone, but all the 4 sensors are not at the back but two in the front, while two on the back side. On the front, we have a 20MP primary camera which has an aperture value of f/2.0 while a 2MP depth sensor handling the duties for blurring the background when you are having a bokeh shot from the front camera.

For the rear sensor units, we have a 12MP primary sensor which comes with an aperture of f/1.9 and happens to have a pixel size of 1.4um. The secondary sensor is a 5MP unit and happens to have an aperture of f/2.0.

Coming to the images shot with the sensors they are great and there are absolutely no issue with the colors or saturation as they fall on the right point on each and every image either they are shot in the daytime or in the night time. Images from the rear camera are great and do a great job when they are doing bokeh shots, same goes to the front, the camera is wide enough to capture your whole group of even 10+ peoples. Coming to the performance in bokeh mode the cropping might be a bit of issue in hay were lighting rest it is all fine.

Battery

The all-new Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro comes with a 4000 mAh battery which for sure is going to keep you entertained for over 12 hours of continuous use which does include a bit of gaming, a bit of listing to songs, a few calls, a bit of social media, and also some amount of standby to the phone. Keeping using the phone at a steady usage is surely going to give you a screen on time of around 6 hours which is quite great and for sure is going to be up and down and not constant.

Verdict

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro comes with the best in class performance and best in class in hand feel due to the construction of the device. Although there are devices which for sure are going to offer a great amount of feel which might be much better than Redmi Note 6 Pro but in terms of durability this one is going to be the best.
