TONOR TC-777 Microphone Review: A Cheap Flagship Killer?

TONOR TC-777 Review

Good quality microphones don’t come cheap. Cheaper alternatives might not come with quality. So, is there any product that has both combined providing the best possible output within your budget? In our search for such a product, we came across the TONOR TC-777 which is a microphone that costs $41.99 ($39.99 at amazon), way cheaper compared to the flagships out there. As the price point is checked, what about the quality? Does it sound like those cheap microphones that can just record the audio and literally output all the noise around? Or is it as good as the premium microphones from the companies like Blue, RODE, and Audio-Technica that dominate the microphone industry? Let’s find out.

Design

Not the best looking out there, but one of the best looking at the price point. That would be a perfect explanation in a simple sentence. The build quality is promising with a classic old-school design that would fit anywhere you place it in. The color scheme matching each other pretty well makes it catchy to the eyes, without compromising the professional look and feel. Feels lightweight in the hands but still enough to stay still with the stand provided with the product.

TONOR TC-777 comes with a dedicated stand, shock mount, and a pop filter just like any other microphones on the market. All, well-fitted, and perfected to be on your desk. You can adjust the position of the microphone and rotate it anywhere you want according to your comfort. An excellent feature which most of the microphone brands missed. You won’t have to adjust yourself just to be comfortable with your microphone anymore. The cables that come with the device also feels premium and aren’t one of those cheap connectors we have seen in the past. In short, a perfectly built, good quality product for the price.

Features

As the design looks good for the pricing, let’s now dive into the more important section, the features and performance the TC-777 can provide. Even though a bad design could be justified with excellent features. So, if the product has some exciting features, combined with cheap pricing, and excellent performance, that would be an easy pick, let’s see.

Good Sound Quality

The most important factor to consider when choosing a microphone, the sound quality. A microphone with bad sound quality is nothing useful. Luckily the TONOR product comes with a good audio system that can capture your voice without the background noises making it much useful for a home user. We wouldn’t recommend it for recording some professional music tracks or anything like that. But would be an excellent choice for the home use for basic recording tasks.

The high-quality cardioid microphone capsule placed inside lets the microphone capture almost perfect audio by maximum possible noise reduction. Even though you are recording from a little-noisy environment, the microphone is smart enough to extract the actual voice from the background noise. If you are someone who wants to accomplish daily recording needs without worrying about those noises in the background and doesn’t want a studio-quality recording, this would be a perfect go-to microphone out there.

We felt like the product is a bit similar to the Blue Snowball in terms of the quality and features. Even though it isn’t as good as the Snowball in terms of everything, still managed to keep up with the popular cheap microphone flagship. The less pricing can still compensate for the missing features and the product manages to output almost similar quality voice recordings as the Snowball.

Compatibility

Talking about the compatibility, you can connect the microphone to almost any of your devices including Laptops, Desktops, Playstations, running any operating systems such as Windows, Linux, or Mac OS. So, the compatibility is not a question with the TONOR TC-777. Worked perfectly on our machines without any issues. You could easily connect the USB to the devices and you are good to go. No setup process or anything, just plug and play. An excellent way to make it easier for users.

The accessories

The TC-777 comes with a set of accessories such as a Stand to place the microphone which also has folding feet, a Mini Shock Mount to adjust the position of the microphone according to your requirements, Pop Filter to filter your vocals providing excellent sound quality, and everything such the power cord, manual, USB connector, etc. You will get everything you need to have an excellent recording session right from your home.

Easy Installation

In order to get the device working, all you have to do is plugging into the USB port of your desktop or laptop. As soon as your operating system identifies the device, you could start using it right away. No CD installations, setup process, or anything that might irritate you. So, as soon as you get the device in hand, just connect it and start using it right away.

Verdict

An excellent microphone for the price range suitable for the home-usage with a nice design that fits anywhere and a good sound quality that cancels the background noise. Comes with adjustable stand making it much easier to be put on the desk. The pricing seems pretty cheap compared to many other cheap alternatives out there. Even with such pricing still manages to hold on to the good quality sound. Useful for various needs such as gaming, recording, streaming, etc., you can benefit from the TC-777 in various ways. You should give it a try.
