One thing worth mentioning is that the internet world does not stop to provide reports and finding new things even despite the fact that the whole world is under lockdown due to the Coronavirus. In a new report, it has been found out that if you are an iPhone owner and also happen to own a car from BMW, you might soon become lucky. Because a new code found inside the iOS 14 release which is going to happen later this year has revealed something interesting.

According to the code, it is found out that Apple and BMW are working on something similar to keyless entry to your car from your iPhone. It was already found out in iOs 13.4 that Apple is working to let people use their iPhone as a car key and even share those keys with iMessage. Now, the iOS 14 code confirms that development and BMW had also announced that they are working on “keyless” access to their vehicles and this is a step in that direction.

BMW is already a part of the Car Connectivity Consortium which had finalized the Digital Key standard for cars. Coincidentally, Apple is also a part of that same consortium which means that they have to be the first ones to implement it.

As per the dedicated Apple blog named 9to5Mac, “Apple will be calling its Digital Key implementation as CarKey which would go well with its CarPlay branding. The feature could be exclusive to the iPhone 11 or newer since it will possibly rely on the U1 chip. Users will be able to manage their CarKey from the Wallet app on their iPhone”.

Now, we are likely to see more details regarding this at the WWDC 2020 which will take place in June this year. However, it is worth noting that this year’s WWDC will be online-only due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
