Apple will reportedly not use Intel 5G chips in next iPhones

Apple launched their 10th-anniversary edition iPhone last year which was named as the iPhone X. Now, it is reported that the company will launch a successor to the iPhone X along with the successors to iPhone 8 series as well. Talking about the iPhones releasing later this year, we have known some details about the smartphone-related to camera and design.

However, a new report has emerged related to iPhones and the chips used in the iPhones. This is regarding the use of 5G chips in the iPhones and we know that 2019 smartphones are expected to come with 5G chips.

Now, Apple has reportedly informed Intel about their plans of using 5G chips in the next-gen iPhones. However, this is not good news for Intel as Apple has reportedly told that they will not be using Intel 5G chips in the iPhones.

This report comes in when Qualcomm and Intel are fighting to get the contracts for 5G chips in the smartphones for next year and later. Due to Apple’s denial, Intel has reportedly cut the production of their chips as well. This is because Apple iPhones are arguably the biggest smartphone launch every year in consumer electronics and thus, the chipsets are also manufactured in numbers.

Therefore, Apple’s decision to not use Intel 5G chips means that the company has to decrease the production significantly. Also, it is known that Intel has been working on their 5G chips which are internally known as “Sunny Peak”. Intel has also diverted their employees working on this chipset to the other projects that are currently offered by Intel. However, the company is still trying hard to get the contact from Apple as they expected to have Apple’s contract for iPhones in 2020 as well.

Thus, they are trying to convince Apple that their 5G chips are better by improving them to get Apple’s contract for the iPhones to be launched in 2022 onwards.
