Microsoft, as we now know, is focusing majorly on Windows 10 which is its flagship version of Windows. For this reason, the company has announced some shutdowns on older versions of Windows. First of all, we heard that the company is stopping security updates for Windows XP and Windows 7 devices. Now, there is one more way in which Microsoft is telling its users to stop using Windows 7 or lower. The company has announced that it is shutting down Internet board and card game support for Windows 7 and older devices.

Therefore, you will no longer be able to play games such as Backgammon, Checkers, Hearts, Reversi, Spades and MSN Go. If you are a fan of any of these games and are running Windows 7 or lower, you need to switch to Windows 10. Now, it is not necessary that you need to buy a new PC for the same but it is better to buy a new system. When these games will stop working for you depends on your current version of Windows.

For example, Windows XP and ME users will be the first to have no access to these games as announced by Microsoft. Later, Windows 7 users will also not be able to play the games but you still have time. Microsoft has announced that these games will stop for Windows XP and ME users on July 31, 2019. For Windows 7 users, these games will stop working on January 22, 2020. This is a week after the company will officially drop for Windows 7.

Now, this move from Microsoft is harsh but it seems to be working as well. Because it is reported that PC sales have increased in the last quarter. And they are estimated to rise in the next two quarters as well. The main reason behind this increase are users upgrading from Windows 7 or lower to Windows 10 devices.
