At the beginning of the week, Motorola introduced its first folding smartphone from the legendary Razr brand. Apparently, in addition to Samsung, LG and Xiaomi, even Lenovo/Motorola want to move on the same track. According to the latest rumours, the new Razr will be exclusive to the US market. But do not despair because the winged brand is working on a model that has nothing to envy to others.

Thanks to a leaked patent rumour made by the Dutch website Let’s Go Digital, we can see how the new Motorola fold might appear. This is a solution very close to that shown by Xiaomi just yesterday. Essentially, the patent shows a device with the size of a tablet that bends to the centre in the long side thus turning into a sort of rather narrow and elongated phone.
The most interesting aspect is that the part of the screen folded on the back can be used to execute commands. The device would then be equipped with two front cameras arranged so that one of them becomes the back one as the screen is folded. The software then, using the appropriate sensors, should recognize which side is placed in the front position and consider it as the main screen.
Another image in the patent also shows the device folded like a curtain and turned into a kind of alarm table clock. You can see all these solutions from the renderings above. If the folding screens will remain in history as a useless fashion or if they will be the future of mobile devices, we let it decide to you. For now, however, we are sure that we will see more and more during this year.
That’s all for now. Please leave your feedback in the comment section below.
