Samsung has launched one of the most hotly anticipated smartphones of 2019 which is the Galaxy Fold. However, it was not a smooth ride for Samsung to get to where it is with the Galaxy Fold. We know that the foldable flagship from Samsung was already announced back at the MWC 2019 in February. But then it took more than 3-4 months for the company to make it available in the markets. Once Samsung announced the official date of availability and sent devices to reviewers for testing, everything went wrong for the company. As the Galaxy Folds started to break in hands of the reviewers and the company had to recall them as well as not make them available in markets.

A few months after that, we now have the Galaxy Fold finally available with a revamped design which is not a huge change from the original design. It is just a change in the display where there is an adhesive fixed inside the bezels so that it is not removed easily. Because that is what caused the Samsung Galaxy Folds to fail initially. With the new design and launch, Samsung is getting positive reviews but we know that foldable phones are not that durable to go mainstream just yet.

Also, they are quite expensive as well so there’s that. Talking about durability, CNet took on a mission to see if the Galaxy Fold really survives for 200K folds as claimed by Samsung. The publication ran a 14-hour test to check the number of folds that the device survives for. And at the end of this stress test, it emerged that the device could only survive for 60% of Samsung’s claim or 120K folds. But that is still a lot of folds and it can easily take you 3-4 years of normal usage to achieve that number of folds.
