Samsung has finally fixed the problems that it has with the Galaxy Fold. In an official interview given by Samsung CEO DJ Koh, he says that the Galaxy Fold released date will be announced in a couple of days.
In the interview given to Korea Herald, DJ Koh says that Samsung “has reviewed the defect caused from substances (that entered the device), and we will reach a conclusion in a couple of days (on the launch)”.
He also adds that they are aware that the Galaxy Fold should not be delayed much. Samsung CEO says that “We will not be too late,” regarding the new release date for the Samsung Galaxy Fold in the US.
As for last week, Samsung started to email users who had pre-ordered the Galaxy Fold. In the email, Samsung notified users that their Galaxy Fold pre-orders will be cancelled automatically if the product does not ship by May end.
Also, Samsung gave the option to stop the cancellation of their pre-orders which meant that they would have to wait for a release date which is not yet announced.
According to a Samsung spokesperson, the release date for Galaxy Fold will be announced in the “coming weeks”. Therefore, it is most likely that the Galaxy Fold will miss its original release date which was scheduled in the month of May.
Samsung CEO also says that they have addressed the two biggest issues because of which the Galaxy Fold displays got damaged. These were the foreign objects entering the phone behind the screen through the hinge and reviewers mistakenly peeling off the top protective layer.
DJ Koh says that these issues have been fixed. Samsung also claims that they are working on strengthening the exposed areas of its hinge. Also, they will try and reduce the gap between the screen and hinge as much as possible.
