Instagram recently rolled an update to mute Instagram profile posts without unfollowing the account. In early days it wasn’t possible to mute an account without unfollowing them. So, if you actually like some Instagram posts but don’t want to get notified whenever they post something. Or if the notifications are getting a headache, the new update might be a great opportunity for you to get rid of it.

It is an important update for every Instagram user. This update will let you mute profile updates without unfollowing them. The update is already rolled out and it should make easier to manage feeds of a profile. So, as soon as the update completely rolls out in your location, you will be able to take advantage of it by updating the Instagram application. Here is how the new update will look like.
This update is just like Snoozing updates on Facebook. When the update is rolled out, you will see three dots next to the account name, selecting the “Mute Posts” will stop showing the updates of a particular Instagram account.
So, you will no longer see any updates on that account ever again unless you decide otherwise. In future, if you want to revert the changes, you could just tap those three dots again and select the “Unmute posts” option in the same location.
Muting option is pretty handy to make your feed more personalized. Also, this doesn’t mean that you will be no longer able to see any of their posts. You could still follow their updates just by visiting their profile just like we do on any other social media accounts. So, if there is an account that you no longer want to see updates, you could use this feature by updating your Instagram app.
