How to Enable Password Lock in Android Smartphones

Most smartphones will prefer the Pattern lock first, if you need the PIN lock, you must first set a Pattern lock by following the above steps and then step into these ones.

  1. Go to the ‘Settings’ screen of your smartphone.
  2. Navigate to the ‘Security’ option.
  3. Then choose ‘Screen Lock.’
  4. You’ll see something like ‘Try other ways to unlock.’ Tap on that.
  5. Now, choose ‘PIN’ option and confirm the current pattern lock.
  6. Then, set your PIN.
  7. Confirming will change the pattern lock to the PIN lock.

Note: The PIN can only be the numerical characters.

How to Enable Password Lock in Android Smartphones

Same as the PIN method, most smartphones will ask you to set the pattern lock first before switching to a password unlock method. So, you may have to follow the steps in the Pattern lock method first and then follow the steps given below.

  1. Go to the ‘Settings’ screen of your smartphone.
  2. Navigate to the ‘Security’ option.
  3. Then choose ‘Screen Lock.’
  4. You’ll see something like ‘Try other ways to unlock.’ Tap on that.
  5. Now, choose ‘Password’ option and confirm the current pattern lock.
  6. After that, set your preferred password.
  7. Now, you’ve changed the Pattern lock unlock method to the password unlock.

Note: Passwords can be alphanumerical characters which will be a wide variety when compared to the PIN.

Note 2: Remember that some smartphones especially which come with an overlayed OS, has the lock screen option directly in the settings menu. So that, you don’t have to go to security option.
