Buying a New Phone - Which is Better, the iPhone 7 or the Google Pixel

Looking for a new phone, but don’t want to spend a fortune? That’s easy with so all the discounted options available online.

Is an iPhone your best choice? It’s taken a while for Google to produce smartphones. Now, there are two on the market – the Pixel and the Pixel XL. How do these phones compare with the latest iPhone?

It may be hard to convert if you are an Apple addict. It’s always worth taking a look at what is on offer. Let’s consider some of the most important aspects of the iPhone 7 and Pixel phones.

Display Size

The size of the display for both phones is comparable. Apple’s two iPhone 7 devices come with a 4.7 inch or 5.5-inch screen. Pixel phones have screens that are either 5 inches or 5.5 inches in size. When it comes to resolution, there are slight differences.

The screen of an iPhone 7 comes with a resolution of 1334 x 750, whereas the resolution of the Pixel is 1080  x 1920. The same differences apply to the larger handsets; the iPhone 7 Plus comes with a resolution of 1080 x 1920, compared to the 1440 x 2560 resolution of the Pixel XL screen.

The differences may not be huge, but they will make an impact if you are hoping to use the phone for any VR activity.

Hardware Specs Comparison

There is no doubt that the iPhone 7 packs a punch when it comes to power. It has 2GB RAM and an A10 Fusion core.

This is a new feature which makes use of two cores to complete intensive tasks, plus two for tasks which are less intensive. All of this helps to provide an impressive and fluid user experience

Before you set your heart on the iPhone 7, know that The Pixel has 4GB RAM, plus a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chip, which boosts processor performance by 10%.

Now that is impressive; as is the fact that these handsets are Daydream ready.

Software Comparison

The Google Pixel runs on the Android Nougat OS which offers improvements on the previous Marshmallow incarnation.

These include; split-screen mode, notification tracking, and battery life improvements. Users of the iPhone 7 will get everything they expect from iOS10; the latest version of the Apple OS. There are some additional features including 3D Touch integration and a modernized lock screen; but nothing too revolutionary.

There are some similarities between the iPhone 7 and Pixel phones. There may not be enough exceptional features on either, to convert Android devotees to iOS, or vice versa.

This is with the possible exception of the VR capabilities of The Pixel. This is something which Apple needs to catch up with.
