RealMe 2 Pro Review

RealMe 2 Pro Review

If you are new to the brand then they are also a part of the same BBK electronics who are doing a great job in the market currently. Talking about the RealMe brand they are an online-only product from OPPO and this actual targets Xiaomi’s Redmi series of devices.

RealMe launched the RealMe 1 which didn’t have any fingerprint scanner, but this time with the RealMe 2 Pro the things have changed, and while the RealMe 1 was taken with a lot of enthusiasm by the users, even the RealMe 2 Pro with the current form is expected to be taken with the same enthusiasm and the response of the product will be great.

Today we are going to review the device and see if this will be making the same impact on the users or not.

Design

The device inspires many cues from its parent brand, and that is quite evident both on the front and even on the back. Talking about the front of the phone we have the teardrop type of notch on the top of the display, while on the bottom we do have a large bezel.

At the back, we have a polycarbonate design which is made up of several layers. This gives the phone an impact of glass back have makes the phone to look quite premium.

Overall the phone is quite thick at 8.5mm and this makes it an issue for the phone to hold in hand. Even the phone is made up of polycarbonate that is although good for the phone, as its flexible nature will save the device from a few drops.

Talking about the front safety we have the Gorilla Glass 3 to protect the front from scratches. Overall the phone looks quite good, and you can easily mistake it for any premium device despite being made up of polycarbonate shell. In hand feel of the phone is up to the mark, and there are no issues on to the device from the body.

Display

RealMe 2 Pro comes with a 6.3 – inch display which is loaded with the full view technology and even features a dewdrop notch, this makes the phone look really premium, as it is the first device in its class to feature the same.

Aspect ratio of the display counts to 19.5:9 and this makes the phone a really tall one, but there is only a single issue that we will not be able to have an extra portion for the notch when watching a video and that will interfere with watching the video which is a downside of the phone.

In real-world usage, the phone is quite great and the display produces the best in class contrast and saturation, this results in the phone being a great one when we are talking about the display.

Do note that the panel is an IPS LCD one and for obvious reasons the phone is lacking the blacks and for the same reason we have got the thick bottom bezel at the bottom of the display.

The pixel density of the display is quite good at 409ppi. For the daytime brightness of the display is quite good and counts a maximum of 530 nits which can easily overpower the brightness of the sunlight, for the night time too the display is quite good and doesn’t hurt the eyes much.

Performance

RealMe loads the all-new RealMe 2 Pro with the Android 8.1 Oreo which will surely be updated with the Android 9.0 Pie. Running the software is the Snapdragon 660 SoC which is an AI chipset from Qualcomm making debut in the device giving the best in class performance.

Assisting the AI chipset is the Adreno 512 GPU which is a great performer especially for an FHD display. When it comes to the RAM of the phone it is quite good at 8 GBs and hence the Pro version of the RealMe 2 is a great performer especially from the chipset and other angles.

Talking about the real world performance the all-new RealMe 2 Pro is a great device for performing all the daily chores, but after that, even the performance factor of the device is highlighting that results into the phone being capable loading all the different applications and all the different games that a great gaming phone can do.

Although this phone will not be posing much of the graphics still the games this phone can play is with brilliant excellence and there is no issues with the phone being a bit of heater for the user, as it is quite normal for the phones of the same price range. Coming to the games PUBG and Asphalt 9 is a breeze on this phone, and it can render the graphics of these like a baby would count from 1 to 5.

Camera

A dual camera set up at the back and a single lens on the front making this setup the best for most of the devices, this phone also the same. Here we get a 16MP primary camera at the rear which comes with a f/1.7 lens, and the secondary camera which is a 2MP one and serves as a depth sensing sensor.

The video can be recorded on the phone at a max resolution of 2160p at 30fps while digital stabilization can work at 1080p @ 30fps. There is no optical stabilization included with the device. On the front, we have a 16MP sensor which is the same as the rear one but this one happens to have an aperture value of f/2.0.

In real-world usage, the phone is quite great in taking pictures, and there are no issues with the phone, and the images from the device are going to be really great especially in colors, and saturation. The display of the phone does proper justice to the images and turns to natural colors while you are using the camera, this is a great function.

During the day there are no issues from the phone while capturing images either from the rear or the front camera. While talking about the night capturing modes, the phone is unable to capture all the details and there are grains on the photos taken especially from the front camera.

Battery

RealMe 2 Pro comes with a 3500 mAh battery and a 10W charging facility available with the device. When it comes to using the phone for daylong there are no issues and the phone can easily suffice for the whole day at a single charge, as long as you are using the phone for normal gaming, normal usage of phone application and other applications, although if you are a maniac who is using the phone for taking pictures continuously or gaming on heavy games then the phone for sure is going to have issues with the battery life, and you will be found checking for a power socket in the next 4 hours.

Verdict

The phone is a great buy especially at the price point, the phone is offered in three different variants which is the most important part of the phone.
