Apple launched the all-new update to the last year’s flagship device as the iPhone Xs. Last year there were three different devices as the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and the iPhone X. iPhone X was the latest innovative device that involved the notch on their device, demise of the touch ID from iPhones and new face ID solution. The iPhone X was so great and the most secure that at the end of the day device gathered the popularity that it was made for, and hence started a new era of devices.
Extending the same this year Apple has launched the all-new update to the iPhone X extending the features and screen size a bit with the iPhone Xs Max which is carrying a screen size of 6.5 inches and making it the largest of iPhone available till now. iPhone Xs is the same size as the iPhone X while there is also an iPhone Xr which is a cheaper version of the iPhone X which is a bit of a tone down from the Xs. Today we are comparing the update to the iPhone X and the iPhone X itself.

As the iPhone Xs is an update to the iPhone X hence the later one is obviously going to lose, still let us have a look and see if the iPhone Xs is a sure shot update and one should get one soon, or if he can wait for the next update before signing a new cheque.
Design
In terms of design both the devices looks exactly the same and have the same form factor as they have the same size as the screen. In each and every dimension the phone measures the same keeping aside the weight factor wherein the new one is a tad heavier by 0.1 ounces. Rest talking about the placements of components on both the phones.
We have the vertical camera unit on to the top left side of the device, while on the bottom we have the branding of Apple with its logo in the center. On the front, we have the same 5.8 inched display with the same notch.
In terms of build quality both are identical and are made up of stainless steel which is much stronger than the Aluminium build that most of the phones are offering in the mobile industry. Although the steel is stronger and doesn’t look aesthetically good they have polished it to a level that it gives a great look and feel to the phone. Both on the front and the back we have the same Gorilla Glass 5 unit that is the best in the industry.
Display
As both the devices are the same, it is the same case with the display too, here we have the same 5.8-inch display that is a Super AMOLED display that comes with a resolution of 2436 x 1125 pixels and even this is the ditto same one. Even the notch on the mobile phone is the same and hence there is no effect on the viewing area of the phone in any way. Hence for most of the part if you are upgrading from the iPhone X to the all-new iPhone Xs then there is not going to be any type of difference.
Coming to the side by side real eye difference of the two devices, one cannot spot any difference in the panel, and even if you change the panel of the iPhone X and the iPhone Xs then also you will not be able to get any difference. Colors and contrast levels on the phone are exactly the same; hence there is not much to talk about the difference in the phone. Although the Face ID is upgraded to another level with the all-new Face ID v2 compared to the Face ID v1 which is found on the iPhone X.
Performance
This is the place where both the devices tend to take different paths. The all new iPhone Xs comes with the latest A12 Bionic chipset which happens to have the latest hexacore CPU which is built upon the 7nm platform. When it comes to the iPhone X it is running on the Apple A11 Bionic chipset and hence it is a bit on the older side.
Keeping in mind about the other components we have the iPhone Xs with 4GB of RAM while the iPhone X comes with only 3GB RAM and hence the later one for sure is going to lay behind in multitasking activities.
Coming to the real world performance of the mobile phones we can easily say that either of the two is capable of doing most of the daily job and that comes true for the entire task except gaming. On the gaming front, it is the iPhone Xs that takes the throne and wins over the older iPhone X.
Although when it is not the RAM which is bottlenecking the mobile phone then iPhone X can also climb up the revs and match the positions hence there are not much of issues in competing against each other. Another thing to note is that the iPhone Xs is going to get software support for next 5+ years while as the iPhone X is a year old then it will have a year less of support which is a countable downside for new buyers.
Camera
Another section where the two devices are the exact same and come with the same hardware. The iPhone Xs and the iPhone X both have a dual unit camera on the back, while on the front we have a single camera.
On the back side, the dual unit camera is for sure going to have two different sensors of which the first one is a 12MP one with an aperture value of f/1.8 while the telephoto lens is a f/2.4 aperture value with the same pixel amount. This is the same setup that we can get on the either of the units. On the front, we have a 7MP camera with a f/2.2 aperture on either of the units.
Coming to the pictures taken via the either of the devices, it is the iPhone X that wins over the time as it has the best-optimized software running and hence there is no issue with the phone in the cropping and color correction.
While the iPhone Xs have some of the issues with the softening of images that are pending to be corrected via the software team of Apple. Hence as of now, it is the iPhone X which is better of the two, but with a couple of update, we will have even the iPhone Xs rocking with the same images, and even better one.
Battery
iPhone users mostlydon’tt like to take a note on the battery life, but when iPhone Xr can give a battery life of over 2 days hence we must take a close look on the battery life section too. As of now, iPhone Xr is able to lend an battery life of around 20 hours easily which is mixed with calls and social networking, while the iPhone Xs with similar usage can lend over 24 hours of battery life. Both are almost similar although the iPhone Xs will be having a bit better one over the iPhone X due to the new chipset and a bit of increased battery capacity.
Verdict
Apple’s verdicts are always difficult and it is no different with the comparison of the iPhone Xs vs the iPhone X. As per the conditions of both the phones we can say that iPhone Xs will be a better choice as it is going to have a much longer support and comes with a better build quality by a minor mark. When it comes to the iPhone X it is also a great device, and if you can find the same in a steal deal then you must get one for you.
