Earlier in developing countries Nexus devices were sold via the dealership of the company who are developing it. This is the third iteration of Google Pixel lineup as the Google Pixel 3 and the Google Pixel 3 XL.

The Google Pixel 3 was reviewed recently, now it is the Google Pixel 3 XL pending for the review, and today we are reviewing the same wherein we will be evaluating the phone on its design, performance, and build to see if the device will be able to cop up with your day to day usage for the next couple of years, or at least till a next better device is in your hand.

Let us head over to the review, but before that do comment your views on phones with Notch designs, and which type of design do you like.

Design & Build

Design of the all-new Google Pixel 3 XL is something that you might fall for, or you might end up looking for a better design. This is the same design that is on the Google Pixel 3, at least on the back. For the front, the story is a bit different and you get to see one of the largest notches in the history.

The notch on the Google Pixel 3 XL is quite provident and feels a bit tall, to most of the people’s likening. When we talk about the placements of different components we have the Single Camera at the back of the phone positioned on the top left corner. On the front, we have the dual camera and the earpiece in the notch on the top, while on the bottom we have a large bezel with the speaker grill.

Talking about the build quality we have the phone made up of glass both on the front and the back, both the panels are manufactured by Corning and are the Gorilla Glass 5 variant and hence are the toughest of the panel available. The frame is made up of Aluminium which gives it the integral strength.

Talking about the in-hand feel of the phone it is quite good, but the phone does feel a bit wide as still, it is having a screen ratio of 18.5:9 which makes the phone a bit wider than most of the devices of same screen size.

Display

Google has got a 6.3-inch panel on the XL variant of this year’s Google Pixel. The 6.3 –inched unit is a P – OLED unit that is one of the best display panels available in the industry. This particular unit is a QHD unit which is 1440 x 2960 pixels.

The screen is molded in a ratio of 18.5:9 and this makes this particular unit to have a pixel density of over 520ppi at 523ppi which results into the screen being one of the densest units in 2018 flagships. Due to the large bezels, this phone is having a screen to body ratio of 82.8% which is again low keeping in mind about the top of the line flagships.

Google has kept in mind to keep the latest and the best technology loaded onto the phone and hence we have the 100% DCI-P3 coverage resulting the phone to have a good color gamut available so that we can have all the colors that our media or our pictures can be displayed in true – tone colors.

There is even an HDR technology equipped which is also old as currently, the standards are at HRD 10 hence there are a few color issues onto the panel. Still, the colors and the temperatures are displayed in the best quality.

Performance

Keeping in mind about the best in class performance we have the phone loaded with 4GB of RAM and Adreno 630 to drive the graphics, this particular GPU is the best to drive most of the graphics available on any game or any type of video.

Talking about the main CPU it is the Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 which is one of the best coming to any kind of calculations. This particular chip is manufactured on 10 nm platform making it a power efficient chipset too.

Talking about the real world performance we have it as the best in class performing phone. The gaming performance of the phone is quite great and we can easily play most of the games without any issue.

Coming to the multitasking thing then also the phone can easily multitask with over 5 applications that are quite great and one of the best in current standards although the phone has only 4GB RAM. For all the normal tasks this phone is the best and can easily make most out of the hardware.

Camera

Google Pixel 3 XL comes with a single rear camera which is a 12.2 MP camera with f/1.8 aperture and have 28mm wide angle lens attached to the sensor. This sensor also has OIS making it stable for most of the part.

On the front, we have two different 8 MP sensors of which one is a wide angle one at 28mm while the other one is an ultra wide one at 19mm. The wide one is having an aperture of f/1.8 while the ultra wide one has an aperture of f/2.2. This is the same setup that we can point on the all-new Google Pixel 3 too.

Google has been manufacturing phones which are having one of the best cameras, and this is the same case with the all-new Google Pixel 3 XL do note that this camera can also make the best of their performance without any issue with the help of the software.

Images either in the dark or in the daytime come out to be great, and there is no issue with the phone capturing the best bokeh effects, hence it is clear that this device is for people who are looking forward to a great camera phone.

Battery

This phone comes with a 3430 mAh battery which is around 500 mAh more than the Google Pixel 3, but this is to facilitate the larger display to be powered up, rest the phone have almost same battery life. If you are someone who needs a phone to be powering his calls and social media the whole day then this is the phone to take care. This phone comes with an 18W charger which can top up the phone from 8% battery to 100% in less than 1 & 1/2 hour.

Verdict

Google Pixel 3 XL is one of the best units in the industry to take your hands on if you are a developer or if you are someone who likes to tweak settings and use the phone.
