How To Fix Windows Store Not Opening Problem In Windows 10

Windows store or if you prefer it to call it as the “Microsoft Store”, is the official marketplace of Microsoft for apps and games on Windows and Xbox. However, we definitely know that it is not the best marketplace out there – but if you happen to use it, you might encounter numerous issues.

Sometimes the Microsoft Store won’t load in Windows 10. There are several reasons are behind the issue. Here are some errors commonly we see while opening Windows Store.

The issues could have resulted after a Windows update or simply while regularly using the Windows Store. No matter what, we have multiple solutions to fix it everytime you encounter an error.

Here are our options:

1. Reset Cache

I found this method working perfectly when the Microsoft Store gets hiccups while loading.

  1. Open Run by right-clicking on the Start menu button and select Run.
  2. In the run command, enter wreset
  3. Once you hit enter, the wreset command will be executed and then restart your computer to changes take effect.

This process will reset the cache present on your Windows 10. If the store loading issues are caused by the cache, the problem will solve after doing the above method.

2. Adjust the Date and Time

If you do not have the correct date and time – you might face trouble accessing the Windows Store. So, in order to be sure – you need to set the time to Automatic mode.

To do that, you need to

  1. Right-click on the time displayed in the taskbar and then select “Adjust date/time”.
  2. After the settings menu appears, enable the toggle to “Set time automatically”.

Now, check if you can open Windows Store or not. If not, try the second best solution.

3. Disable VPN / Proxy

If you are trying to use VPN/proxy to bypass geolocation restrictions. You should probably disable it first before trying to open the Windows Store.

  1. Go to Search, type internet options and open.
  2. Now, go to the Connections tab, and click on LAN Settings.
  3. Uncheck “Use Proxy Server for your LAN” checkbox.
  4. Now click Ok to save settings.

This will disable the Proxy use on your Windows 10. Now try to open the Windows Store again to check the issue status.

4. Check your region

Go to your settings and check your region under the “Time & Language” settings. If that is incorrect, set the correct location and try restarting the Windows Store.

5. Antivirus Troubleshooting

Sometimes certain Antivirus solutions block stuff that isn’t meant to be restricted. No matter what Antivirus you use, temporarily disable it for a few minutes and check again if the problem persists.

6. Trouble Shooting using Windows Store Troubleshooter

In this method, we can use default troubleshooter which is provided by the Windows Store app.

  1. Download the Troubleshooter app from the Microsoft website.
  2. Double click on the downloaded exe file to open the Windows Store Apps Troubleshooter.
  3. Now, click on the Advanced option.
  4. Here, click on the checkbox which is beside Appy Repairs Automatically and click next.
  5. The troubleshooter will take some time to fix the issue.
  6. Now, open the troubleshooter app again and now you will find the option “Find and fix other problems”.
  7. Now, follow the on-screen instructions to complete the procedure.
