How To Add Google Calendar Event From Chrome Omnibox

If you have been using the Google Chrome browser from some time now, you would see an address bar on the top where you would enter the URLs for websites you want to visit. This is the standard procedure in most other browsers and there is nothing new about it.

But Google Chrome’s search bar is not just a place where you enter addresses and it is also the reason why Google calls it an Omnibox.

Basically, you can do a lot more in Google Chrome’s Omnibox like opening the history, bookmarks and other pages as well as reading emails, adding calendar events and more. Talking about adding calendar events, we are here to tell you how you can also add calendar events from your Google Chrome Omnibox.

It is actually quite simple to add a new calendar event to the Google Chrome Omnibox and you just have to type small sentences which can be easy to remember as well. There are two variations which will give you similar results.

  1. The first of these lines is “cal.new” while the other one is “meeting.new”.
  2. If you type either of these lines, the “Add to Calendar” event will be triggered and the screen will open where you can add an event.
  3. Now, you will be asking us how to differentiate in adding calendar events when you have two accounts where one might be personal and the other one for business use.

Well, Google gives you that option as well because you can type the lines by tweaking them a bit. If you have a second account and you want to add an event to that account, you should type cal.new/2 or meeting.new/2 which will add that particular event to the second account. Note that the account that is active currently will be “1” and the other one will be “2”.
