How to pin a Website to Taskbar in Windows 10

Pin a website to taskbar

Sometimes it can be very difficult to manually type the website address in the browser address bar. Especially if the website URL is pretty long. In that case, pinning the specific URL to the taskbar can be very useful. Instead of opening the browser and manually typing the URL every single time you want to access it, you can simply click on the icon on the taskbar. It will directly open the browser and also take you to the URL of your choice. Let’s see how it can be done on Windows 10.

Google Chrome

If you do not want to go through all these steps mentioned below, there is a quick way to skip steps 1-6. Simply open any website you want to create a shortcut of. Resize the browser window so that you can see both the browser window and desktop. Then click and hold the padlock icon to drag it to the desktop and drop it. That’s it.

  1. Open the website you want to pin to the taskbar.
  2. Click on the menu icon (three vertical dots) at the top-right corner.
  3. Click on More tools > Create shortcut.
  4. A popup menu will appear, you may change the name of the shortcut there.
  5. Click on the Create button.
  6. Now, a desktop shortcut for the website will be created.
  7. To add it to the taskbar, right-click on it then choose Pin to taskbar.

Mozilla Firefox

On Firefox, the steps are the same as the paragraph we mentioned in the Chrome section. You can simply drag and drop any website to the desktop and then pin it to the taskbar by right-clicking on it. As easy as that.

Microsoft Edge

If you are using Microsoft Edge, the steps are the same as in the Chrome section. Because it is a Chromium based browser.

That’s it. The website will be pinned to your Windows 10 taskbar. From now on, whenever you want to visit that website, you just have to click on that shortcut you just created.
