WhatsApp Now Has The New Instagram Stories Like Feature

WhatsApp has been bringing up a lot of features to their app. The latest edition was WhatsApp video calling, apart from that we have seen group invite link which is a great feature for group admins and also the GIF support. And looks like the list is growing fast and by the end of this year, yet another feature is getting added to WhatsApp.

Now, WhatsApp is testing something similar to Instagram Stories. A new Status tab is expected soon, where a user will be able to share a photo or video with their selected contacts for a limited time. When a user taps the Status tab he or she can add a new status to a picture or write a text or even add emojis that will be visible to all the contacts on WhatsApp. Also, there will be the option to customize which users they want the status to be shared with or for how long the update will be visible. Also, the ‘Calls’ tab has been removed and replaced with the new camera icon, which may let users snap a shot or record a video and share it as status. Right now, users can only set status with text and emoji, and also they need to change it manually after a certain period. But this feature will add pictures, video, and emojis to it and will also allow users to share their status with any specific audience.

Right now, if you want to access this feature, you need a rooted Android phone or a jailbroken iPhone. I’m trying it out right now, however, I hope that the update will be made available for public soon. Also, note that the time period for deletion of the status is not available right now, but maybe we can get it in future.

Liked this cool new feature and want to try it? Just head over here and register for beta testing. However, you will need to have a rooted Android phone. Also, if you have already tried it let us know what you think about it in the comments section below.
