Cubot has released some impressive smartphones in the past. Now they came with a Phablet named Cubot Note S. The beginning of the Phablet size 5.5 inch is so convenient for the smartphone users to handle and carry it. Also, the size of screen plays a role in deciding the size of battery by the manufacturers. We expect shortly every Smartphone maker may leave the 5.0-inch size in their next releases. Cubot has realized this and now it produced a low priced phablet to take its place in the market.
Cubot is well known for the Budget level smartphones. Their new release Cubot Note S is also a budget priced one at all value for money. Now the question in everyone’s mind is How Cubot Note S will perform? Here we reviewed the specs of Cubot Note S and its performance in the day to day run.
Cubot Note S Review : Design and Build
Cubot Note S has got a Plastic and Metal build. It is good solid to touch and use. The design resembles many another premium model. There is nothing unique to note down. But there is no disappointments too. There is no bezel around the screen.
On the right side, it has the power button and volume buttons. On the top side, it has the 3.5mm Audio jack and micro USB port. There is a big size battery beneath the removable cover in the backside along with two SIM card slots and an SD card slot. The rear camera is placed in the top left corner. Near the camera, there is an LED flashlight to support the camera in dim lights.
Cubit Note S got an 8.8mm of thickness. This is an acceptable thickness comparing to other Phablets. This Phablet got a big size battery of about 4150mAh capacity. This took more space in the device. Overall, this design is a usual Smartphone and Phablet design. There is no flaw in it. Personally, for this price, I feel this is a valuable quality build.
Cubot Note S Review: Display
Cubot Note S has a 5.5-inch screen made of IPS technology. The screen is looking good at a 1280 X 720 Pixels High Definition screen resolution. If someone thinks the screen resolution is not a full HD at 1920 X 1080 Pixels, it affects the battery performance. So, at an HD resolution, the battery will perform better. It is always a choice for the Smartphone makers.
The viewing angle is good, and we can see the screen clearly up to a huge bend down of the phone. In the specs, it is noted as 178-degree wide angle view. Display quality is good and supports the battery performance.
Cubot Note S Review: Hardware and Software Performance
Cubot Note S equipped with an MTK 6580 Processor chip which carries 4 cores. It can be clocked up to 1.3GHz. The Graphical processor found inside is Mali-400 MP. The device has 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage. Storage can be expanded using the micro SD card up to 32GB. This configuration of CPU is medium level and for this device, this is a right choice, in the sense of total price.
Based on the tests done on multitasking and playing games, it is found that there is no lagging or hanging on screen during the multi-tasking. The 2GB RAM handles the browser, playing videos at 720P resolution, KIK messenger app in the background, Gallery and 3 PDF documents all at the same time.
During the Games testing segment, the popular medium weighted games like Clash of Clans, Clash Royale, Cut the Ropes 2, Fruit Ninja, etc. were worked great. There were not a single issue faced. But, the massive games which need more processor and RAM such as Dead Trigger 2 were encountered some lagging. This is not a big disappointment. If you want to play strategy, puzzle, farming and the many other medium levels games, this phone will do that without any issues.
The software bundled in this device is Cheetah Mobile User interface based on Android 5.1. This UI almost feels like the CyanogenMod, who were a pioneer in custom Android OS makers. The settings options are way too good than the stock Android.
Cubot Note S Review: Camera
The rear camera has a 5MP lens which can be interpolated to 8MP. The rear camera is supported by a single tone LED flashlight. The options for different settings are as usual like in many other Android devices. Face Beauty, HDR, Flashlight, Panorama, Auto Focus, Touch Focus, etc.
In the front, there is a 2MP camera with interpolation up to 5MP quality. These cameras are meant to be for decent quality pics. We cannot expect more for the budget price. The interpolation helps to increase the quality and clarity of photos.
Cubot Note S Review: Battery
Cubot Note S got a big size battery of 4150mAh capacity. The company claims that this Phablet can be used for 2 days without the need to fill the battery. Even after the heavy usage like using WiFi for connectivity, streaming a video, playing games, watching a high-resolution video, etc. for many hours in a day, this battery long lasts more than a day. This is the big sales point for this device. Those who need a budget phone with a great look with a high level battery this is the call.
Cubot Note S Review: Verdict
Cubot Note S is a budget phablet that fills the gap of high fuel battery in a decent performing budget smartphone. If you are tired of smartphones that run out of battery every few hours, then this phone will help you to avoid running to the charger the whole day.
Coming to the price, this phone is selling around $80-100 in the online stores. It is a reasonable price for this device. We have already seen the specs and its performance. So, you just calculate the value for the money you get in this Phablet-Smartphone.
