  1. Open Facebook app, tap the More button in the lower-right corner of the screen.
  2. Then, tap Settings option.
  3. Now, Select Account Settings and tap Videos and Photos.
  4. Tap Autoplay.
  5. Here you can select either On Wi-Fi Connections Only to play the videos only on wifi connection or Never Autoplay Videos to completely stop automatic videos.
  6. You can revert them anytime as you like by following the same steps.

Twitter: Autoplaying videos

Like Facebook, Twitter also has a video autoplay feature. If you are one of that kind who spends a lot of time on Twitter by browsing the messages, it is not likely to have this feature turned on. To disable the video autoplay feature in Twitter follow the steps given below.

  1. Open Twitter app.
  2. Tap the Me button in the lower-right corner of the screen.
  3. Then, tap the gear icon at the top of your profile page and then select Settings.
  4. In General section, tap Data option.
  5. Now, tap Video autoplay.
  6. Here you can select either On Wi-Fi Connections Only to play the videos only on wifi connection or Never Autoplay Videos to completely stop automatic videos.
  7. You can revert them anytime as you like by following the same steps.

Instagram: Preloading Videos and Photos

Instagram is no more just comprises of the photos, it has a wide range of videos and a lot of other stuff. So, Instagram will start preloading the videos and photos even before you are visiting a page to make it faster to browse. Even it is a good feature to provide a seamless and quick browsing experience, it consumes a lot of data without any use. So, disabling it may gift you some more data left in your smartphone. To disable the preloading videos and photos in your Instagram app, follow the simple steps given below.

  1. Open Instagram.
  2. Go to your profile page and open settings.
  3. Now, tap Cellular Data Use.
  4. Tap on the toggle switch to turn on Use Less Data option.

This will not completely disable the preloading of videos and photos, but will limit them efficiently while you are on a cellular connection or a slower connection. In our experience, this will not affect the video playback or browsing speed but will save a lot of data.

YouTube: Change Wi-Fi-only Settings

Youtube grew like a giant in the past years. It is one of the most depended sources for watching the videos online. Even though, it will play the videos regardless of the connection in HD quality. That will use a lot of your data.   1. Open the YouTube app.
  2. Tap the triple-dot button in the upper-right corner and then tap Settings.
  3. Now, tap on the toggle switch to turn on Play HD on Wi-Fi only option.
  4. Once you are in Settings, scroll down and tap on the toggle switch to turn on Upload over Wi-Fi only option if you regularly upload videos to Youtube.

If you are using the YouTube Music app, there is one more to do to save some additional mobile data. Open settings in the Music app and enable Stream via Wi-Fi only option.

Spotify: Make Albums Available Offline

Spotify is a large collection of your favorite music files. If you are a regular Spotify user and enjoying the service every day, you might be losing a lot of your mobile data. Spotify has an option that let you store the songs to your local storage to enjoy them later without using the mobile data. This offline feature is very useful if you have a large amount of storage but has only a limited data plan. To make this possible, you just have to tap the toggle switch for Available Offline option when viewing an Album or Playlist. This will save the songs to your local storage to enjoy it other time. It is recommended to do this while you are on a wifi connection which is temporary.

You can also control the streaming quality of the tracks by Opening Settings and tapping Streaming Quality. You’ll see four options namely Automatic, Normal, High, and Extreme choose the suitable quality for you. We recommend using the Normal option to save data.
