Asus just launched the improved Zenfone Max smartphone for a price of 9,999 INR. Now, we’ve decided to write a quick review of the smartphone to help you get a quick idea of the brand new Asus product.
One of the most noticeable features in this smartphone is the Snapdragon 615 Octa-core processor which took down the Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor in the previous model. The processor performs well especially on those games which need a lot of power to process multiple threads. 2GB RAM is also a noticeable feature for this price range. The device is fueled by an impressive 5000mAh battery which the company claims that it can stay three entire days from a single charge. They also claim that it can act as a power bank to charge other devices using the OTG connector.
There is much more to dig about the brand new Asus Zenfone Max, which is just launched a few hours back. So, let’s have a look at them.
Asus Zenfone Max Design
At the first look to the device, there is nothing special to notice than the traditional Asus design. The front portion looks exactly like what we’ve seen so far in Asus smartphones. The front portion is occupied by the 5.5-inch display with a good clarity and smoothness. For a change, Asus removed the Gorilla glass feature in this smartphone, may be due to the low pricing that targets the mid-range users.
On the backside, a nice Leather pattern is there that connects to the Metal-effect bezel. The speakers and the Asus logo are placed in the traditional positions that looks good. OTG port is on the bottom part while the headphone jack opposing it on the top side. The leather back gives more grip on the hand and adding no extra weight. All in all, it feels good in hands without having extra bulk or weight. Max will be available in four different color variants as Orange, Black, White and Blue.
Zenfone Max Build Quality
Zenfone Max has a good build quality where we can’t find any manufacturing or engineering defects. The sizes are well planned to fit the hands without creating a discomfort to the users. The edges are fitting very well to the back cover without creating gaps. The buttons are well reachable even using it in one hand. The OTG cable provided by the company fitting the port very well. But, when tried with the external connector, it feels like a little difficult to insert it. Maybe due to the freshness of the smartphone.
Zenfone Max Display
Asus Zenfone Max has a 5.5″ TFT LED Backlight display with 1280 x 720 pixels resolution. It has adjusted brightness and contrast settings to provide maximum visibility in high lighting conditions. It has a lower brightness level too for the dark conditions. This time, there is no Gorilla glass protection the display to provide an extra layer of security. This is a small con of the smartphone.
Zenfone Max Performance
As I’ve mentioned before, Asus has given extreme importance to the performance of this smartphone. At the heart, there is a Snapdragon 615 Octa-core processor which itself can perform very well than in the previous variant. The processing speed is good and showed impressive scores in the Antutu benchmarking tests. The CPU is powered by the 2GB or 3GB RAM’s. There are two variants in RAM available. We’ve got a 2GB piece, and it performs very well. We’ve tried it with the Asphalt 8 in maximum graphic mode, and it worked smooth without lagging. We’ve also tested it on multiple games, and it also processed well.
Adreno 405 GPU powers the graphic capabilities of the smartphone by enhancing the quality of the visuals even on high FPS games. In HD videos streaming also the supports of the GPU is noticeable. Antutu benchmark also stated it is an acceptable peripheral for this price range. Looking to the ROM, there is a 32GB storage available on the device that can be expanded up to 64GB via micro SD card.
There are 2 sim slots on the smartphone both are powered by the 4G LTE technology for providing uninterrupted communication over the high-speed internet. You can enjoy the most advanced 4G LTE technology with an amazing speed of 150mbps.
Zenfone Max is running on the Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS with the latest technologies added. It consumes comparatively lower resources than the previous variants of the Asus which is running on the Marshmallow. We may expect that this version is coming with the fixes for all bugs which were there on the previous smartphones. There may be also the fix for the overheating problems.
The battery is the most loved feature of the Asus Zenfone Max. A 5000mAh battery is more than enough to call it a Power Bank. As per the company, it can stay upto three days from a single charge! You can also charge other devices by connecting them using the OTG cable. Here is a video stating the quick features of the smartphone. Have a look.
