In case you have been living under a rock for the past few months, you should definitely know right now that Huawei is scheduled to launch its new series of smartphones: the light heavyweight Huawei Mate 9 and the super heavyweight Huawei Mate 9 Pro. The launch is scheduled to take place in less than 24 hours, but that has not stopped most tech watchers from going stir crazy and madly leaking rumored and factual pictures and specs of the devices anywhere and everywhere. The new Mate will sport and skillfully utilize its sharply cutting-edge Kirin 960 SOC. Apart from camera setups that might actually give the long-time frosty couple of Samsung and Apple a run for their money and launch a battle for our hearts. With the Mate 9Pro and its curved-edge QHD display, Huawei ups the ante even further and shows its take-no-prisoners bad boy attitude.
Let’s recap the specs thoroughly again, in case we missed something and to get the day off to a dreamy good start. The Huawei Mate 9 will probably sport a 5.9-inch full HD IPS glorious display, while its sibling rocks a QHD. With Huawei designed and manufactured Kirin 960 octa-core processor married to 4GB to 6GB of system RAM. The Kirin chipset supposedly consists of four Cortex-A73 cores and four low-power Cortex-A53 cores, all collectively clocked at 2.6GHZ. Did we mention that a Mali T880 GPU is responsible for the graphical gyrations?
Cameras? Oh dear! The phones feature dual back cameras -20MP and 12MP- for optimal usability and functionality. One camera will feature an RGB sensor while its counterpart uses a Monochrome sensor for iPhone rivaling pictures and videos. To rad things even further, Huawei proceeded to partner with camera maker Leica to devise a Picture Quality Algorithm developed by both companies. Additionally, the dual cameras will feature 4x of optical zoom, laser auto-focus, contrast, hybrid and depth focus.
The OS is reputed to be the chocolatey-sweet Android nougat, while internal storage ranges from 64GB to 256 GB in some variants.
Price? Oh around Rs 32,000 for the 64GB variant and up to Rs. 48,000 for the 256GB monster. The Huawei Mate 9 Pro on the other hand might cost up to around Rs. 93,600. So, you better start saving up.
