What is Dogpile and How it works?

As we discussed above, Dogpile is a metasearch engine and aggregate results from other search engines like Google and Yahoo. When you type a query in the search box, it will fetch results from other search engines and shows the most relevant search results.

In their “About Us” section we found their explanation of their service. According to Dogpile, it is a time-saving search engine and removes duplicate results and shows only accurate information.

As we see in Google before diversity update, it has shown two or more than results from the same website. Dogpile is very confident about the results and it will show completely different web results in a page.

Dogpile comparison with Google

I’ve tested the Dogpile deeply and compared the results with Google. Here what I found.

Keyword: “thetechhacker”. Google and Dogpile search results comparison.

Keyword: “best VPN”

Keyword: “best search engine”

If you compare the above results, you will find both are showing different search results. Also, we found a number of ad results on Dogpile than Google. Google is far more advanced than Dogpile and it has snippet features for quick reference.

Search Preferences and Customization

The Dogpile preferences option is not visible on the home screen until you create a search. The preferences option is offering a few options like search filter, recent searches, and open links in a new window. Search filter lets you filter the results of sexual material and other explicit content. Also, you can configure the recent search option on/off in the settings.

Conclusion

However, Dogpile is a good search engine if you want a change in search results and avoiding the monopoly of other popular search engines. Technology is always improving, we are expecting more changes and improvements in Dogpile in the near future.
