No one likes to be tracked. But the bitter truth is that we are always being tracked almost in any device that has an internet connection. One way or another you are always sharing data with the browsers, apps, service providers, and almost anything that require you to connect to the internet. However, there are few things you can do to reduce the risk of sharing your location on your latest iOS 14. If you do not want the apps to track your precise location, Apple provides an option to turn it off. A good move from the company that has always focused on user privacy and security. So, let’s jump in.
Stop apps from tracking your location in iOS 14
If you are using iOS 14, you can follow these steps to disable the location service to block apps from accessing your location.
- Open Settings.
- Just scroll down and choose the app you want to stop tracking your precise location.
- Tap on the Location option.
- Just toggle the button next to Precise Location.
You may not see the Location option under the app if the app doesn’t need the location service. If you cannot find the Location option, that means the app doesn’t utilize the location service on your device, hence, you do not have to disable it.
That’s it, you have successfully blocked the app from accessing your precise location. From now onwards, the app won’t be able to track your location. Keep in mind that, if the app requires the location service (for example a Map application), it may not be able to work precisely as expected. So, if you trust the app, you may leave the Precise Location toggle turned on. But if an app doesn’t necessarily need access to your location, turning it off would be a good option.
