Petey Vid Vs DuckDuckGo Video Search Comparison

Petey Vid to Duck Duck Go Video Search Comparison

Find your favourite videos is a piece of cake with the advancement of the search engines and video search features. The platforms such as YouTube and Dailymotion made it way easier to find anything that you want to watch.

On top of that, the search engines provide an extra layer of filters and functionalities to find the videos you are looking for. That’s what we are going to discuss today, comparing the Petey Vid, a service dedicated for video search to one of the most popular search engines, the DuckDuckGo.

While one of them is dedicated to just finding the perfect videos that you want, the other one is a search engine that also has a video section. Both of them have their pros and cons that we are going to discuss in a moment.

Interface

DuckDuckGo has a traditional search engine interface that we are familiar with many others such as Google, Bing, Yahoo, etc. Alongside the tabs such as the web search, images, etc., you can find the video tab where you can perform the video search. Once you go to the tab, the search results will be explicitly filtered to output video results. The items are shown in a grid layout which is quite easy to navigate and browse through.

Petey Vid, on the other hand, is a video search engine dedicated to searching videos. You do not have to navigate anywhere. Not only YouTube, Petey Vid is popular for searching over 70+ platforms online, which makes a better place to search your favourite videos comfortably.

All you have to do is inputting the search term to the search box and hitting the enter. It will return a list of videos on the page that matches your search term. You can also choose between the list and grid formats as per your convenience. Not so modern, a basic list of the videos that you want.

Videos

We have done a couple of search queries on both search engines. In terms of the algorithm, it seems like the Petey Vid is a bit better in returning the videos that users actually are searching for. For a beginner search engine, Duck Duck Go still does a good job fetching the videos that match the search query. As you can see in the above screenshots, seems like Petey vid prefers non-YouTube sources while YouTube is the preference for the DuckDuckGo. So, overall, the videos returned seems to be slightly better in Petey Video.

Features

Both search engines support filtering the results based on their duration and sorting based on certain criteria. However, DuckDuckGo has a few more functionalities to filter explicit content as well as the ability to search based on the resolution of the videos.

You can also filter the results by country if you are using the DuckDuckGo. However, the Petey Vid got an advantage where you can list the videos either in a list view or as grids, the way you prefer. DuckDuckGo also allows you to control things such as the font size of the listed items, which might not be useful for everyone.

Verdict

After testing out both the competitors with several search queries we have finally concluded that despite being an all-in-one search engine, Petey Vid still has a bit advantage over the regular search platform.

Our thought is that the lack of YouTube videos in the search results makes it hard for them to fetch enough matching videos for the user’s search queries. However, it still manages to output some pretty good videos despite the meaningless titles. The choice is yours. Both platforms can provide you with good quality videos. If you prefer watching videos on YouTube, you may go with DuckDuckGo. If you want to explore many other platforms you can use Petey Vid.
