Google Thinking of to Start an App Subscription Service on Android

Google Thinking of to Start an App Subscription Service on Android

Google is taking a big step towards the Apps by introducing subscription plans to the Android apps. We all know app available in 2 versions, paid and free. The paid apps price starts from minimum 0.49 cents to a maximum $400 price tag. However, many people can’t afford the paid apps due to its high prices.

Recently, XDA and Kieron Quinn have discovered a reference code and a Google opinion reward survey hinting a “Play Pass” app subscription service, which offers paid apps under a subscription model. According to the sources, subscription plan may offer “hundreds of dollars” worth of games and apps for an amount which is under a monthly rate plan.

Play Pass has first appeared in June. However, the XDA recently received a Google Opinion Rewards survey asking about Pass option.

Imagine your app store has a subscription that offers hundreds of dollars worth of paid apps and games for a monthly fee. How well does “Pass” describe this service?

This kind of steps will attract more users to use paid apps at an affordable price. It will increase the apps usage and many people can enjoy paid apps. However, if we go into the past, many apps were paid and only a few apps are available in the free section. Later, the model changed into Free apps but the exclusives in the app available as in-app purchases. This business model is still running in games. For example, PUBG is a completely free game, but you have to purchase the exclusives if you want for a price tag.

Coming to other platforms, we have seen many subscription plans for renting apps to a certain time period. As you pay monthly, you can enjoy the apps bundled under the plan. For Mac users, we see “Setapp” bundle. Setapp offers many highly rated and priced Mac apps under a subscription model for $9.99 per month.
