Xiaomi has already launched its Redmi Note 7 series in India. Apart from that, we have seen the Redmi Go smartphone from Xiaomi too. We now have two new smartphones from Xiaomi in its Redmi lineup. These new smartphones are the Redmi Y3 and Redmi 7. As far as Redmi Y3 is concerned, it is the latest from Xiaomi in its selfie-centric Redmi Y series. Redmi 7 is a budget smartphone from the company on the other hand.
It also looks like Redmi Y3 and Redmi 7 were supposed to be siblings. We got reports stating that Redmi Y3 could be the Redmi 7 ‘Pro’ variant. However, that did not turn out to be true. Looking at the smartphones though, we get the feeling that they are mostly similar. Redmi Y3 and Redmi 7 both have a 6.26-inch display which is an LCD HD+ one.
Apart from that, both these devices have a waterdrop notch and Gorilla Glass 5 protection. To add to that, the smartphones are powered by same processors too. This processor is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 present on both the devices. We get 3/4GB RAM options on Redmi Y3 whereas Redmi 7 gets 2/3GB RAM variants. The internal storage on Redmi Y3 is 32 or 64GB but Redmi 7’s storage is limited to 32GB.
Also, the design of both these smartphones is similar too. They both have shiny back panels and dual rear cameras located at the same spot. However, Redmi Y3 does not have gradients panel whereas the Redmi 7 does have it. The devices come with 4000 mAh battery and USB Type 2.0 port.
The camera is where all the magic happens. Although the rear camera of both the devices is same which is a 12MP+2MP one, the front camera is different. Redmi Y3 has a 32MP selfie camera whereas Redmi 7 has a standard 8MP one. As for the price, Redmi 7 starts at Rs. 7,999 for its base variant and Redmi Y3 starts at Rs. 9999.
