You will soon be able to share Wi-Fi passwords with family and friends on Chromebook

Chromebook

One of the main advantages of using a Chromebook is that you can share many things between other similar Chromebook devices. This is similar to an ecosystem that has been built by Apple where you can share things between iOS and macOS devices seamlessly. There are plenty of things you can share with your friends and family using a Chromebook.

This includes information such as passwords, payment methods, bookmarks, extensions, addresses, apps, and even Chrome tabs. However, the one glaring thing missing from this list are Wi-Fi addresses. Yes, we understand that there is a security aspect attached to this but we feel that it is time Chromebooks let you share Wi-Fi networks as well.

Sharing Wi-Fi networks come in handy when you switch from one Chromebook to another or some of your friends come over to your home or office and want to connect to your Wi-Fi network. You don’t have to share Wi-Fi name and password and just let them into your network by sharing and that’s all. Now, XDA-Developers has detected that the ability to share Wi-Fi networks is coming to Chromebooks soon.

For this feature to work, however, you will need to use the same Google account which is quite obvious. After that, you can import saved Wi-Fi networks from the previous Chromebook to the new one. Another thing is that you will need to connect to one of the WiFi networks so that the other accounts can get synced.

It is also revealed that the feature was found in Chrome version 78 but in the Canary build. This means that you still have some time left before you can use this feature. Since we know that the feature will be tested in Canary then it will come to Beta and if everything goes right, it will be seen on the Stable version.
